WOW! We are so GRATEFUL!❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️
(Please share!)
We can’t stop thinking about yesterday. Not because our register overheated. Not because we lost a ton of product and our tent was destroyed. Not because our feather flags disappeared.
❤️We can’t stop thinking about the people.
This past week has been brutally hot, and yesterday at Harrisburg’s 4th of July festival on Front Street was no exception. Our POS system overheated, which slowed everything down and caused longer wait times than we ever wanted. We know nobody likes standing in line in that kind of heat, but so many of you were patient, kind, and understanding. Thank you for giving us grace!!!
Then the storm came from out of nowhere.
One minute everyone was enjoying the Fourth of July, and the next minute people were running, tents were shaking, signs were flying, and things changed in a hurry. We still had a line of customers waiting for food, and before we knew it, people were under our tent helping us hold it down.
As you see in our video, at first, everyone was laughing and making the best of it. We all thought it would pass in a minute or two. Then, it wasn’t funny anymore. The wind got stronger, the rain was hitting so hard it actually stung, and that’s when we realized this was serious.
All we kept thinking was please don’t let anyone get hurt.
We watched parents protecting their little ones, people pushing baby strollers through the wind, older folks trying to get safely back to their cars, and complete strangers helping complete strangers. If that tent had broken loose, someone could have been seriously hurt.
The tent can be replaced. The feather flags may show up someday…or maybe not. We’re still convinced the catfish flag made it back to the Susquehanna to visit family.😀
But what happened under that tent is something we’ll never forget. For those few minutes, nobody cared who knew who. Everyone just wanted to help and make sure everyone got through it safely.
YOU WERE AMAZING!!! 🤗🤗🤗
As we write this, we’re sitting at home without power, just like many others across our community. We know there are families dealing with the same thing today, and we’re thankful for all the crews working tirelessly to restore power. We hope everyone stays safe.
To everyone who literally stood with us yesterday…thank you. Your patience, your kindness, and your willingness to help are things we’ll never forget.
Hope to see you at the window again soon!
