This term is something I find myself using a lot when describing things happening at the shop. There's always something different going on within the space, with a thousand more ideas waiting for their turn.

As a rural community, we face challenges that don't fall into the solutions that are available for these same challenges in other communities. What I have come to experience is this isn't your ordinary rural community - this is Hawkeye. Where there's a challenge, there is always a line of people ready and willing to answer the call.

There isn't necessarily a point to this post. I just felt like acknowledging how grateful I am to be a part of this little rural community and how immensely grateful I am for all of you that choose to be involved in the grassroots solutions!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month -

We hear that we need to be kind to our mind.
We hear that we need to end the stigma.
We hear that mental health matters.

Practicing these mantras is hard. I always appreciate when people like Healthy Fayette County and all of their supporters put something like this together. Spread awareness. Spread support. Spread some love.

Stop into any coffee shop in Fayette County this month and grab a little reminder for yourself and someone you love!

Watch this and then proceed accordingly...

07:09 04/30/26 school bus stop - truck decided it'd be the perfect spot to floor it (notice the black smoke) - in under one minute, five kids crossed the street before a truck barrels down at an incredibly inappropriate rate of speed.

This morning I quite literally jumped out of my skin.

When I was a teenager, I was a firsthand witness to a child being hit by a car. I do not recommend it.

This is closer to the outcome I fear is only a matter of time, unless certain people start making better choices.
