In his poem, ‘Troilus and Criseyde,’ Geoffrey Chaucer wrote that all good things must come to an end and the same can now be said about The Rustic Bistro and Bakery; it has come to its end.
As Susan and I begin our separate journeys, we both want to thank all of you who supported The Rustic Bistro and Bakery through the 7 years we were open.
We want to thank our current staff: Callie, Chris, Craig, Kira and Tianna for all their hard work, without them, we would not enjoy the continued success we have.
We want to also thank past staff that has included Alyssa, McKenzie (a 2-time waitress of the year winner), Payne, and countless others that helped build The Rustic Bistro into the success it is.
They, along with Susan’s gastronomical talents led to awards, local, regional, and international, too numerous to count.
In fact, Lux Life, our friends across the pond have just named The Rustic Bistro and Bakery “Best Bistro.”
So, thanks to Susan and our staff, we are going out on top!
Our goal was to make exceptional food with simple ingredients that was different from that typically found in smaller towns, such as Hawkinsville
We wanted to make Hawkinsville a place where people would come for a good meal and then explore the town and thereby enriching other businesses.
We specifically opened the restaurant in Hawkinsville, rather than Perry or another city, as a way to thank the community that embraced us when we first moved here from San Francisco.
We hope we succeeded in making Hawkinsville a better place and we will miss serving you southern staples with Susan’s unique twists and her out of this world desserts!
The chefs of San Francisco had best be worried because Chef Susan is coming to town and will elevate any restaurant or bakery that employs her.
As the great Julia Child famously said, “It’s so beautifully arranged on the plate - you know someone’s fingers have been all over it.” (In our case, the person wore gloves!!)
