For the past few years, we have been honored to judge the Burger Competition at the Texas Steak Cookoff under the leadership of the Hico ISD Athletic Boosters club.
This year we entered the competition and were thrilled to win 3rd place out of 17 burgers! We were told that the top 4 burgers were tightly judged!

A ground chuck and chopped smoked brisket burger, smoked and then pan seared. Topped with Havarti Dill cheese, a sprinkle of fresh grown dill and a Red Onion Cabernet jam, served on a butter toasted pretzel bun. Accompanied by a home grown & canned spicy dill pickle spear.
The burger was served on butter lettuce, with a fresh sprig of dill, and pickled cayenne peppers.
Not a bad result for our first try at this hometown competition!
Thank you to Clint N Mary Rainwater (Mary) & her team for a great contest! We had a blast and our neighbors are ready for us to cook something other than burgers for a while! 😁😂
