Just a few thoughts.... it's hard being a Home Baker, Cottage Baker, Treat Maker. Whatever you do or sell, let's face we do it because we enjoy it. Let's be real, we also would like to make a little money in the process! I know I do. So why is it so hard? Well, Cottage Laws, especially in Missouri can be very restricting. I get it, I want goodies from a clean environment, made from good ingredients and sold properly. I also want my small business and others around me to do well. There is enough room for all of us. So with those thoughts in mind I'm going to start sharing a bit about my process and what I do. Am I going to share my recipes??? Not yet, but there may be a cookbook in the works😏 I am, however, going to share ways you can take everyday recipes and make them Cottage friendly. Whether you are selling or just baking for friends and family you may get an idea or two that my help you out. Let's call it Thursday Thoughts.
This weeks Thurdsday Thought...did you know you can take almost any cake recipe that has a buttercream or whipped cream frosting and make it Cottage Friendly and tasty? (We can't use dairy in products we sell unless it is baked into our goods and shelf stable.) No, well you can and here's how....check out the link below for a recipe that I found and tweeked a bit to work for me. Maybe it will work for you as well. Happy baking everybody!!!
This shelf-stable buttercream frosting is a lifesaver for home bakers who need something delicious, reliable, and cottage food-approved.
