One would think that, in my business, this discussion would not affect me so. The truth is, talking about su***de is never easy. It hits close to home for so many.
Mental illness is a real thing and it has touched almost everyone I know in some way, shape or form. We each have our demons but some of us have a harder time than others facing them. It's up to you and I to reach out when we can because not everyone hurting will say something. So if you think someone's in pain, please be kind and don't turn away. There is help out there. Please check out the links below.
The National Su***de Prevention Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals. https://su***depreventionlifeline.org/
The Lifeline for Vets, in operation since 1985, is staffed by trained fellow Veterans. There are at least 20 Veteran Su***des every day and that’s just the official number. It is thought that the number is more likely 24-25 Veterans a day. They are not getting the services they need after returning home from the trauma of war. We can and should do better by them. https://nvf.org/stop-veteran-su***des/
Stay safe friends. Love each other.
