Coffee Talk Cinema

Coffee Talk Cinema Coffee Talk, that Kaimuki icon, is now a cool place to host a screening for independent films. It's called "Coffee Talk Cinema".

Coffee Talk Cinema is a program designed to help out the local film maker share their art and network with the community. On an agreed upon date, Coffee Talk will provide the space, the hardware, and the tech crew to screen your short, documentary or feature. The primary goal is to promote the local film maker, but on occasion we may kick out a classic that just needs to be seen again. Post film discussions are essential.

Aloha "Film Friday" friends. I apologize for the long gap in screenings. It was difficult to keep our screening dates to just Fridays, so we've changed the name to "Coffee Talk Cinema" allowing us to screen on any day of the week. We look forward to a fantastic year of great screenings. Comment or message me if you have any questions about upcoming screenings or would like to show your work at Coffee Talk.

Mahalo,
Mike Higgins

Kalo Culture • Kamuela Vance
61 minutes

Kalo Culture is about a group of people following traditions and a way of life. Focusing on Daniel Anthony of Mana Ai and his family during three days leading up to the Kalo Festival at the Haleiwa Farmers Market. Also featuring many local artists, activists, musicians, and poets who share their talents and love of culture with the community. This Culture and way of life is in danger of becoming extinct due to western influences, development and competition in the Poi industry.

Q & A post screening with Kamuela Vance. As an added feature to the evening we will be screening the trailer for Daniel Anthony's soon to be released film "I Am Haloa". Daniel Anthony will also be demonstrating the art of poi pounding.
