Rome wasn't always the capital of Italy!! The first Italian capital was Turin in 1861, in 1864 the capital was moved to Florence, and in 1870 Rome became the third capital of Italy!!
In 2001, Rome obtained constitutional recognition of the status of capital with the reform of the Italian Constitution!
