If you knew Colin, you knew he loved his big beers. Big Belgians, imperial stouts, sometimes even imperial IPAs. One brewery Colin repeatedly requested beers from was in Idaho. I contacted them to find out how we could get some beer from them, but unfortunately they never distributed here in Oregon, except on the rare occasion that they would send one-off loads as a special delivery, but when that would happen, they couldn’t tell me. I did manage to pick him up a 4-pack while we were visiting Idaho at last summer at least, and it was fun to surprise him with that.
Then, I was notified shortly before Colin’s passing that they were finally sending some beer here and I was so excited to be able to share some of their big stouts with him. Unfortunately it arrived a little too late for him to enjoy here at Volcanic.
However, we currently have a delicious Bombastic Mexican Imperial Stout on tap (and a pastry imperial stout in cans), and in his honor, we will be donating the proceeds of the keg toward his celebration of life. So, if you’re missing Colin like we are, and want to enjoy a tasty, big stout as he would, come in and raise a glass to him, his incredible life, and his warm, friendly, and adventurous spirit that still lives on.
