We have had so many supporters over the years, way too many to name individually. After announcing our closing, we tried to thank each of you individually and collectively. If we missed anyone please forgive us. But through the years we have had some businesses that have been very supportive of us, whether it’s one, several, or the entire staff, so we would like attempt to name all of those businesses and thank them for their support. If we miss anyone please do not take it personally. I’m a retiree now you have to bare with me. Hueytown and the surrounding areas have been nothing but supportive these 16 years and that in itself speaks volumes about this community. There were many many tears shed after this decision, but this entire journey was worth it. We appreciate you all very much!

We had a hard time finalizing our decision to close because of how much we love our customers, but this one particular customer made us afraid to post our decision. Marcy has been placing her Friday night order with us every Friday for over 15 years. We are so grateful for you and your family and we will miss your Friday night calls. And yes your card made us both cry(hard).

These last few weeks have been hectic, so I apologize to anyone I didn’t get to speak or say goodbye to. My main focus was getting the food out in a timely manner. We truly appreciate all the love and support! And again thank you!

Today is the last day for food orders. Tomorrow we will NOT take any orders. We will provide free food, drinks, and desserts on tomorrow. We have been really busy these last few weeks so please be patient and if you are in a hurry it’ll be best to call your order in before your lunch so you can get it in a timely manner. Thank you.

We will operate in our regular manner today though Thursday 11am-6pm. Friday we will have a Farewell and thank you celebration for our customers 11am-6pm. Friday you will NOT be able to place a regular order. We will be providing free food and drinks. All customers, family, and friends are welcome as we say goodbye.

Next Friday Sept. 29th 11am-6pm, we would like for you to join us for a D’s Tamales To Go farewell party. We have received nothing but positive feedback and overwhelming support from you all after announcing our closing. We would like to give D a proper send off on his new chapter of life as well as showing our gratitude to all of ur customers for 16 years of support and love. D’s Tamales will be closing at the end of this month, Friday, Sept. 29th. After many months of trying to decide what to do, I have decided to close after 16 years. I have wrestled with wanting to close for a few years now, but this was not an easy decision to make. I went back and forth with this decision many times before finalizing it. There are some other things I would like to pursue and having to have such a strict schedule when owning a restaurant I never really have the time to do those things. I appreciate all of my customers. I appreciate the support, the friendships, and the amazing conversations I have had with you all throughout these many years. This was not just a job to me or just a way to make money. It was and is truly my passion. I enjoy what I do thoroughly. Unfortunately, I have reached a point in my life where I need a little more flexibility. We still have the two food trucks and do plan to use those at times. We will keep this page up to update about the use of our food truck. Once again, thank you to all of my customers old and new, near and far. Thank you for the support and love. Thank you for allowing me to grow with you. Thank you Hueytown for 16 years. Thank you God for everything. And as one of my customers would say “It’s see you later, never goodbye.”
