It is with great sadness to announce that one of Rock Cola Cafe's great friends and long-time patron, Benny Banayote, passed on Tuesday March 3rd. He was 89. He will be missed. Rest in peace old friend.

***IMPORTANT UPDATE*** on BOI reporting requirements:
As of 03DEC24, Judge Amos L. Mazzant of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas issued a nationwide preliminary injunction prohibiting the government from enforcing the Corporate Transparency Act which required small businesses to file a report called the Beneficial Ownership Information Report (BOI Report).

So for now, there is an official injunction prohibiting the enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act and small businesses are not required to file a BOI report until further notice.

Have any of the small business owners out there in my network of friends been made aware of the recent Beneficial Owner Info (BOI) reporting requirements by a division of the IRS called FinCEN?

It's very confusing because apparently they are not officially notifying businesses directly through mailers and what not. Instead, they are using advertising and social media.

The problem is, FinCEN claims that if you don't file this BOI report for your small business by December 31, 2024 that you could receives fines of $500 per day for every day that it is late.

So I am curious, have any of my small business friends out there been made aware of this, and do you plan on filing the report?

Interesting tidbits for all the Hoosier eclipse watchers today...

The last total solar eclipse for the residents of Indianapolis was in the year 1205...819 years ago!

North of Indianapolis it happened in 1806.
South of Indianapolis it happened in 1869.
East of Indianapolis it happened in 831...almost 1200 yrs ago.

So this is truly a once in a lifetime event for every single living soul in Indianapolis.

Enjoy the eclipse!
