The Iowa Chop House was founded by Two local brothers who believed the best food came right from home. Everyone knows Iowa is one of the Heartlands leading producers of Corn, but we are also known for our amazing beef and Pork as well. The theme of the Iowa Chop House was inspired by the rustic and rich feel of the Seelman Farm in Oxford, Iowa; a mere 12 miles northwest of Iowa City. Established i

n 1838, the Seelman Farm represents the vitality, resilience, and endurance of the typical farm in Iowa. The walls of The Iowa Chop House are adorned with scenes from the Seelman Farm, including the old barn, cows lazily grazing on the pasture, the 1949 Chevy truck, barbed wire gate, and the super-stud bull feeding by the “Beer Barn”. The Iowa Chop House was also inspired when local food combines with Local Brews. Using the reclaimed wood from the Seelman Family Farm, a replica of the barn was built around a beer cooler, in the middle of the restaurant, named “The Beer Barn”. The Beer Barn is equipped with Touch Screen Tablets, that allow the customers to view information about the local beers, and pour their own beers, tracking their ounces and which beers they drink. This interactive Pour your own beer technology is one the only ones in the state and make dining at the Iowa Chop House a unique steakhouse experience. With over 24 local beer options, we got something for everyone’s flavor.
