Historical, lively and welcoming Stratford upon Avon. We started with traditional Sunday Lunch at Lambs on Sheep Street with a full English roast. After a rest-and-digest, we went to a haunted house tour in a 400 year old property with many stories. It was led in the dark with low lanterns led by a creepy ghost.

The next morning was a long walk along the Avon and a visit to the memorial graves of Shakespeare’s son Hamnet and his mother.

Starting late morning, we had a good time baking cakes and scones at The Dough House. We made our own clotted cream and four-berry jam. Owner Fulden showed us how to make posset—a 15th century recipe of cream, sugar ( maybe honey back then) and citrus.

Tea at Lucknam Park in the beautiful countryside of Wiltshire. This is an 18th century grand estate on 400 acres of open space. Such gracious service! There was so much food and everything delicious—sausage rolls, mini-quiches, two kinds of scones, clotted cream and freshly made jam. I drank a lovely Assam, while other teas on the table included Darjeeling and Lapsang Souchong.

We arrived in Bath yesterday and headed straight to Sally Lunn for buns and dinner! Today was a walking tour of the highlights of Bath including the very old Roman Baths. I took a picture of the contemporary “spa”, but no time to enjoy it this trip—maybe next time. The afternoon was a fantastic tea—stay tuned!

All set for tasting Britain’s own tea! Tregothnan produces two single estate teas, one green, one black and both were complex and very enjoyable. We also tasted four of their blends—all very impressive. Lunch was included and completely delicious! What a day!
