Bombach's Honey Hut

Bombach's Honey Hut This is the page for the Bombach's Honey Hut. This is the stand where we will sell the Honey that our Bees produce

Howdy Gang, we pulled off 15 full supers and one partial. We are looking at around 450 lbs. of Honey this harvest. The 3 weeks of high 90 temperatures helped but I don't want to take any credit from the Queens in our hives. They are new and have been laying great workers from day 1. This year I am looking to sell both roadside and also through retail outlets. I have a few established but if you know anybody looking to carry a great local product let me know and I will reach out to them.

Thanks,

My Honey Hut will be out and selling on October 10th and and October 11th at 6500 NW Beaver Drive. While you are struck trying deal with Johnston's endless bridge construction why not turn off and grab some of the best honey in the area. Its fine like summer wine, sweet like bear meat, and the purest and the nearest that you can find with two feet. Great with cheese, charcuterie, or jams, jellies and aperitifs. My honey willl spoil you from the onset. I would never feed my Bees high fructose corn syrup. For a $5 fee per address I will deliver anywhere in the Des Moines Metro Area.

Today with the assistance of the person that got me into this hobby, (My Father) I have harvested 300 lbs of honey. In a couple of days when air bubbles have separated out I will start to put this into my bottling tank and have Honey ready to sell. This honey is produced on an organic farm in Granger, IA. I cannot say that this honey is organic as the bees will fly where they wish. I can say that it has a great sweet flavor and my bees are fed with only sugar water or pure honey. No High Fructose Cron Syrup goes into my hives. You will pay more for Bombach's Pure Iowa Honey but when you taste it you will know why.

Ladies and Gentleman Toys and Squirrels,

The Honey Hut will be active Monday August 1st, at the usual location (6500 NW Beaver, Johnston, IA 50131) I will start shortly after 5 and run for at least a couple of hours. I hope to see some of you out and about, don't forget I am Grimes Sweet Corn adjacent so you can knock out two errands in one stop.

They say that Honey is the only prize in any vault that never loses it's value. On the flip side they also say "OH S**T LOOK OUT FOR ALL THOSE BEES." So you know two sides to every coin and whatnot.

Greetings from the Honey Hut,

I realize I haven’t posted anything this year regarding my apiary. Well strap in kids and put your VR goggles on because this is about to be 3 months of posts crammed into one. Beginning the year I had 5 hives that I thought were all queenright and viable ( I am set up for 6 total) . Working off that assumption I planned on splitting my strongest hive and getting back up to 6 hives. Not having done a split before I enlisted the help of a co-worker who ran 3,000 hives for about 25 years and got out of the business in 1993. Dave came out and in a single afternoon I learned more about beekeeping than I have in the 4 years I have been doing it. With his help I made a nuc from my strongest hive and found out I had 3 more hives that were not queenright. I moved the nuc to my parents house so the Bees wouldn’t go to their same hive and as soon as I got my queens in I put them in the 3 queenless hives. Current day summary: Every hive is going great. Should have a record honey crop. See you all at the hut. I will be selling off and on this summer but will try to give a 12 hour heads up to my followers.

Keeping that in mind I have created a QR code that links to the Bombach Honey email.
