🚨 Baddie Announcement! 🚨

Due to the extremely poor air quality today, we’ve decided to close early at 3:00 PM to keep both our baddies and our amazing customers safe. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who ventured out and braved the full-on Silent Hill weather to come support us today. We never take your support for granted, and seeing your faces (through the smoke 😭🫣) truly means the world to us. Charles needs to give his voice a break for the day. 😭😂

The baddies, the cats, and the muffins will all be tucked safely inside until we see you tomorrow! Stay safe, stay inside if you can, and we’ll see you soon. 🐈☕💛

Head Baddie Charles just performed the entirety of Defying Gravity for Abby. Did she ask for it? No. Did she enjoy it? Jury’s still out. But I personally think it’s time to hand me the Grammy. 🤷🏽‍♂️🎤🔥🫣

Baddie Barista Abby is in the kitchen baking up fresh muffins, and let me tell you! these muffins are THIQUE. Built just like us. 🤷🏽‍♂️😭😂

The cats are posted up watching their TV, the espresso is flowing, lunch is hot, and we’re not letting this smoky, apocalyptic air kill the vibe.

Come escape the outside world with the baddies. We’ve got coffee, food, cats, questionable Broadway performances, and absolutely zero shame. ☕🐈✨

Listen…if the sky is going to look like we’re living in Fallout, we figured we’d lean into it. 🌫️😂

🔥 Today’s Survival Special:
The Smoked BBQ Chicken Sandwich — grilled chicken, melty sharp cheddar, tangy BBQ sauce, sweet onions and all the comfort you need while the outside looks…well…like the season finale of civilization.

And because the atmosphere is already doing the most, pair it with our Campfire Calico Latte. If we’re committing to the bit, we’re committing. ☕🔥

The AC is on, the baddie baristas are caffeinated, lunch is hot, the cats are blissfully unaware that the sky forgot how to sky, and we’re here all day.

Apparently nobody was worried about their lungs today because y’all said, “Air quality? Never heard of her.” 💀😂

The baddies were BUSY from open to close, the espresso machine was fighting for its life, the non slips were moving in the kitchen, slinging food, the cat room was full, and somehow y’all still kept coming.

We’re not saying The Rusty Cat is worth braving questionable air quality........but today’s turnout might’ve just proved it. 😭🐈☕️🤷🏽‍♂️💅🏾

Is it cloudy? Is it smoky? Is it giving end-of-days? Honestly…who knows what Johnstown has going on today. 😂 But one thing we do know!

The baddies are still behind the bar, the espresso machine is working overtime, lunch is hot, the AC is cold, and the cat room is full of purrs. ☕🐈

So if today’s weather has you looking outside like, “🤨”come hide out with us instead.

The heat is definitely doing its thing today. 🥵

We’ve decided to let the baddies head home a little early, give our kitties a quiet cool afternoon, and close up shop early today.

Thank you to everyone who braved the heat and stopped by to support us! We’ll be back refreshed and ready to serve up the drinks, food, and cat cuddles during our regular hours tomorrow.

Seeing The Rusty Cat featured in Farm & Dairy is one of those moments that makes you stop for a second and realize just how far we’ve come. ❤️🐈☕

When people think of us, they see coffee, good food, the baddest baristas and we hope they do. But behind every latte and every cat nap in the lounge is a much bigger mission.

We’re proud to partner with Johnstown Animal Welfare Society to help tackle Johnstown’s animal overpopulation crisis by giving adoptable cats a safe, loving place to be seen and, most importantly, to find their forever homes. Since opening our doors, we’ve already helped 65 cats start their next chapter, and we’re just getting started.

A huge thank you to Liz Partsch and Farm & Dairy for sharing our story, to Donna Christopher - State Farm Agent for believing in this dream, to JAWS and every foster and volunteer, and to every single person who’s grabbed a coffee, visited the cat room, adopted a cat, or shared our posts. You are all part of this story.

This has never just been about a café. It’s about creating something special for Johnstown, supporting local rescue efforts, and proving that a cup of coffee really can change lives.
