With the hot week we have in the forecast would anyone by interested in salads in the grab and go cooler? I had hoped to have it up and running by now with the entrees but this moving has been a lot of unexpected delays.

I was thinking about making pimento cheese, tuna salad, chicken salad, orange jello salad and maybe some vegetable salad (tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumber and purple onion in dressing).

Would anyone be interested? They would all be in 16 oz containers.

Coconut Pie and Chocolate Pie are the desserts of the day along with our regulars.

Thank everyone for your input on the green pies. Lots of good suggestions. I am going to try my coated cast iron Dutch oven next Thursday and see if that makes a difference. No need to switch to glass baking dishes because the issue is the filling not the crust. I might have to take my Hexclad to work and try it on the gas stove, we will see. If all else fails I will just keep making them at home and bring them to work!

Help me out please. I am a third generation cook and this is blowing my mind.

When we moved we switched from electric stoves to gas stoves. The first time I made coconut pie on the gas stove it had a greenish tint to it. Then the second time as well. I googled and it said something about the open flame, egg yolks and aluminum pan reacting to each other. Makes no sense to me.

Have you ever had this happen? What did you do or what kind of pan did you use? I have an enamel coated cast iron Dutch oven I was going to try it next.

I’m open to suggestions and thank you!

Here is the menu for Monday for our breakfast and lunch. Come see us and enjoy some wonderful home cooked foods.

I made a big batch of the summer salad we call Vegetable Salad, diced tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers and purple onion in a marination.

Banana pudding will be the dessert along with all the other usuals.
