After ignoring my phone for the last couple days and getting glimpses of my notifications. I knew for sure I owed my followers and regulars an explanation. And to the questions I hope this answers them. Not sure I’ll reply to them all. So….. Aye Somethin Fishy has been a dream for awhile. Not just a money maker(😂comments like this make me realize mental illness is real) I was raised by a Marine and a food safety fanatic( we were made to wash the top of cans before we opened them🫣and the can opener better go in the dishwasher or we were in trouble. My Ma & Pa. I have standards and my own beliefs that I have to be loyal to. When this journey started I put it in bigger hands than mine🙏( Locals donuts Thank you and leave that prayer box where it’s at) I trust this is where I’m supposed to be- not happy but still trusting. Aye Somethin Fishy is me and my family…. It’s how we believe…. We don’t pillage and plunder… we have tons of respect for nature and all its critters. We pick up garbage while hunting and fishing. We pay our dues to the state and we are more than aware something has lost life at our hands and we show the upmost respect for the sacrifice. So if I’m buying Rockfish that are caught in nets that kill anything in their path and have a strong Oder because they weren’t bled. I’m not being true to my beliefs. I’m just as big a pirate as the ones catching them. If I can’t pack your orders in plastic free containers ( because I do believe in the floating plastic islands) I won’t do it. I also believe in a fair price(here comes the mental illness 😂) my conscience won’t let me raise the prices now. I pay $1.00 for my cups for water. I’ve gotten funny looks when I say I have water but not bottled individual waters. It’s bottled water only I buy 5 gallon jugs. I’m forgiven when they get a 16 oz cup with ice and lemon. Honestly where does the plastic go?? I’m not judging anyone I just have to do what makes me feel like I’m doing my part. If I can’t use heavy whip in the chowder and the amount of clams I deem necessary then why make it?(I wish someone would buy my recipe I wouldn’t be explaining right now) The food I serve is tricky it doesn’t have a long shelf life and I won’t push it… I also hate waste and trust me I’ve grown tired of fish trying to eat what hasn’t sold. Business has slowed way down unfortunately this business has to support itself and me. I knew I had no back up but I had to try and putting it in those bigger hands has helped. Everyone has been amazing I can’t believe the kindness everyone has shown. Fisherman’s market follows me- I love them!! I never considered being their competition but I also never thought I’d feel like they were cheering me on💜Thank you….that’s what it’s all about. Everyone at Velkomenn square has treated me like family. Seriously all good people 👌keep supporting them! I haven’t given up I just need to regroup and find a way to do this the only way it should be done….Fresh,Local, Responsible & at a fair price.. I won’t do it any other way. I appreciate all of you more than you know- you have given me the feeling that you deserve the best I can muster! Last thing… to the Grandson that picks up the pasta salad for G-Ma.
