Hi-Mountain, fondly known as “the Drug Store,” has been proudly serving patrons of the Kamas Valley since the early 1900’s. Still operating in the original 1918 building on Main Street, Hi-Mountain has enjoyed playing an integral role in the economic development and growth of the Kamas Valley. In 1968 Morlin and LaReta Van Tassell purchased the pharmacy and lunch counter, and it’s been family-owne
d and operated ever since! Current owners Gaye (daughter) & Gaylen Pace and Grady (grandson) & Janie Pace are continuing the family tradition. At Hi-Mountain we are different from other burger joints because we stay true to the time-tested old-fashioned methods of preparation. We take pride in our traditions and strive to give extraordinary food with exceptional service. The meat for our burgers is ground daily at the local butcher shop in Kamas, with specific hand-trimmed, never-frozen cuts of beef only available to us. We take pride in the fact that we still hand-form our patties every single morning, the same way we have since we bought the store in 1968. This practice is part of our recipe for success, along with our commitment to quality beef and a well-seasoned (yet sometimes temperamental) flat top grill. It’s been cooking burgers for almost 50 years, and contributes to the unique, one-of-a-kind flavor you can only find here. Our burgers are nearly 1/3 pound and can be customized to fit your specific tastes. Our menu features 7 signature burgers, as well as the classic Hamburger and Cheeseburger - served the same way it was in 1968, of course! It is our attention to detail, commitment to quality ingredients, and sincere customer service that has kept our small and humble business at the forefront of the burger scene in Utah. We take our shakes seriously! Every building needs a strong foundation in order to stand, and we feel the same goes into the design and construction of a shake. We use a premium high butterfat vanilla ice cream base, giving a creamier, more decadent final product. Fresh fruit and homemade mix-ins finish things off right… No skimping here! We consider our shakes to be works of art, not only delicious, but also visually stunning. We have found that the boundaries of a good shake are limitless and we constantly encourage our staff and customers to create and try new combinations that can be added to our menu.
