We love you. Each and every one of you. Truly.
We have some really tough news to share. As of today, Kind Food is officially closed. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to share a last meal or say goodbyes—the timing and situation just did not allow.
We know this is unexpected. We are so sorry. This is so very tough. Getting to connect with you and feed you these last 3 years has been an amazing experience, something we wouldn’t trade for anything. We are heartbroken to make such an abrupt departure.
We want to be transparent with you, friends, because you deserve to know.
We have spent the last 3 years growing, every day meeting new people and making them new fans. We’ve seen folx get behind the concept and share their gratitude with us for bringing Kind Food to life. We’ve collected nearly 250 five-star reviews on Google and pleased palates from across the country. Together, we’ve raised over $30,000 for local and national non-profits and causes. The concept and the food was needed and welcomed.
Unfortunately, in our inexperience we chose a new location that was just too large (aka expensive) for what we could sustain, even as we continued to grow. Coupled with rising costs across the board (product, utilities, labor, etc), staying above water was difficult. We pushed as hard as we could in hopes we’d pass a growth threshold before funds ran out but unfortunately our covid closure this summer put us in a hole we ultimately could not climb out of.
We explored every option we could think of in an effort to give us time for more growth, but there were just no great solutions. We ran out of funds and options to bring our costs for the space in line with our sales.
It has been very hard to accept the situation but we are doing the best we can to move forward with integrity and hope for the future. We’ve done our best to put our team first during this time. They are an amazing group who has given so much energy, love, time, patience, passion and hard work to make Kind Food what it is to each of you. We would not have made it as far as we did without our amazing crew.
The entire experience of opening and growing Kind Food these past few years has been such a gift—we have learned so, so much and grown so much as individuals. This may be the end of this road but it’s not the end of our mission or drive.
For now we will take time to grieve, recover and support our team. In the future, who knows what may happen. If there’s an opportunity to bring y’all burgers and queso and fried mushrooms in the future, we may just make it happen.
Stay connected with us here. We’ll check in now and then.
