Have you had a "Sticky Fingers Bagel" yet? I'm driving into Monticello to the Bagel Bakery this morning to buy a batch of delicious, freshly-baked bagels and then Kevin and I will be decking them out with whatever your heart desires: cream cheese, premium smoked lox, capers, red onion, preserved lemon, mung bean sprouts ... Bagel service with 2Queens Coffee goes from 10 am Saturday morning until 1:00 pm at the shop while the Kauneonga Farmer and Makers Market is in progress. After that, its full steam forward with ice cream until 9:30 pm tonight!

New! Chai Latte is a subtle and quite irresistible tea-brew ice cream that incorporates black tea leaves, milk, sugar, and a blend of spices, including cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cloves. The resulting flavor is simply delicious and very restrained. Chai Latte goes well with other flavors such as Butter Pecan, Vanilla, or Peanut Butter Fudge. It is a subtle cream; try it, if you will, with a large cumulus of our delicious home-made whipped cream!

And yes, this week I have brought in just one carton of Butter Pecan ice cream. This cream goes best with stronger flavors such as Killer Chocolate, Pistachio, or Cappuccino Kahlua Calypso where it can act as a foil to the stronger and more assertive flavors of the companion ice cream. Come on over today if you'd like to try some--I am sure we will sell out of it by the end of the weekend!

Happy Fourth of July to all our Friends and Followers! This weekend we have lots going on at Sticky Fingers Delectables but with such hot weather, ice cream remains KING! Please find attached our ice cream menu. If we run out of your favorite flavor, we are happy to suggest a substitute.

Sticky Fingers will be attending the Homestead School's Homecoming tomorrow (Saturday, June 13th) from 10 am until about 3:30 PM. We do many events off-site throughout the year, but this one in Glen Spey is our favorite because of the beautiful setting, the atmosphere of learning, and the wonderful kids and parents and teachers. -- We should be able to reopen the shop on Saturday around 3:30 or 4:00 PM and then power through until 9:30 PM. We apologize for any inconvenience but will see you either tonight (til 9:30 PM) or on the weekend. Thank you!

Another Kauneonga Lake Farmers and Makers Market will take place today at Duggan Community Center from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. These markets, put on by the Bethel Local Development Corporation (BLDC), regularly take place indoors during off-season months. This May Market will be the last one held indoors until much later in the year--the June Market will once again be held outdoors on Memorial Square across from all our new KL restaurants.

Sticky Fingers Delectables will be in attendance with many frozen soups but also a good variety of liquid soups which can be taken home and heated up for immediate consumption. Lunch or dinner, here we come! One new soup I am adding to the menu today and also bringing to Duggan School is "Creamy Cauliflower and Bacon Soup." This thick and scrumptious soup is full of onions, scallions, garlic and bay leaf, all blended together in a cream base. The soup is very filling.

Many people have been requesting more dairy-free options at our ice cream counter so this week I ordered another delectable sorbet for our ice cream cabinet: Lemon Sorbet. This light but fantastically tasty confection goes well with our other non-dairy options: Raspberry, Sour Cherry, and Mango Sorbets. But it also pairs very nicely with our Vegan Killer Chocolate. (Lemon, as it turns out, compliments most other flavors under the sun.)

Just a reminder on this HOT DAY!!! Sticky Fingers Delectables is open today from 3:00 - 8:00 PM. Come by for some ice cold ice cream and try out the NEW FLAVOR: LEMON SORBET! Totally refreshing and cooling on a day like today. Lemon also pairs well with our other fantastic sorbets: Sour Cherry, Raspberry, or Mango. Thank you, and see you soon!

YESSS!!! You've waited and bided your time over three days of cold, boring, drenching rain. TIME TO CELEBRATE summer with Sullivan County's Best ICE CREAMS!! The shop will stay open today until 8:00 PM. Head on over early to avoid any lines. Thanks, Folks--see you there and thank you for your devotion to our business!

Friday afternoon Kevin and I made up a big batch of Split Pea Soup. On the menu above it says this is 'NY' Split Pea Soup but actually it is more "French Canadian Split Pea Soup" because it is made with yellow split peas instead of the usual American green peas. -- We will also make up 14 quarts of the simply scrumptious Lemony Lebanese Lentil Stew which (as raindrops tinker on the roof above your head) are sure to transport you to the shores of an Eastern Mediterranean country whence this recipe springs.

By mid-afternoon Saturday too I will again be producing our ever-popular "Classic Beef Chili" and possibly also a batch of "French Bistro Cabbage Soup." Both of these meat / chicken-based soups are deeply fragrant with special spices: cumin, cilantro, coriander, caraway seed. Yumm yumm! The nice thing is you don't even need to consume these soups anytime soon. All of our soups and stews can be frozen for up to six months and also make a simple and delicious repast when served cold or luke-warm on hot summer evenings. Hate cooking in the heat? Hate cooking in the cold? No matter! Sticky Finger's "Soupy Soup" is the answer for any day when you just don't feel like cooking, for whatever reason.
