🍒 LIMITED THIS WEEKEND ONLY: The Italian Tortoni has arrived at Oliva 🍒

You probably haven’t seen this one on a Texas menu, and that’s what makes it special.

The Italian Tortoni is a frozen Italian cream dessert with a story going back more than 200 years. It was created in the early 1800s at Café Tortoni, a Paris café run by an Italian gelato maker from Naples. His sweet, almond-kissed frozen cream became the talk of Europe. Later, Italian immigrants brought it to America, where it became a favorite in the classic Italian restaurants and bakeries of New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia.

For generations it was the way to end a big Italian dinner up north. Down here in Texas, though, it’s almost impossible to find.
We have researched and mastered the art of the original Tortoni. 🇮🇹

What you’ve built here is rare: a team that genuinely cares, and a community of guests who have made Oliva part of their lives. We’re grateful to be stepping into something so full of love, and we promise to honor what you created while caring for the staff and guests who make Oliva a special place.

You’ve earned this next chapter. We wish you both health, rest, and happiness, whether that’s Justin having a blast at Elote or off on your next adventure. After 17 wonderful years, we have made the bittersweet decision to pass the torch. As many of you know, the past few years have reminded us just how precious health, family and time truly are. We feel this is the right moment for us to step back and begin a new chapter.

Everything will stay the same. The staff you love will remain right where they are. You’ll find Justin having fun at elote and Cynthia beginning her next adventure at Civilized Travels 🥂

We are entrusting our baby to her adopted parents, Steven and Joseph, who understand how special she is and who will carry Oliva into her next chapter. Please come in and welcome them and show them what we already know... Oliva has the most truly fabulous clientele anywhere.

Thank you for every celebration, every family dinner, every friendship and every beautiful memory. It has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives to serve you.
