To the many, many individuals who poured countless hours into helping make this possible.
After everything the Guadalupe valley has been through in the past 10 months, we have incredible news to share with you, on the first full weekend of summer.
Fifteen camps in Kerr and Kendall Counties are open!
That is not a small achievement. In the wake of the 2025 floods, getting here took determination, patience, and an enormous amount of hard work from camp directors, staff, and volunteers who refused to give up on the kids and families who count on them every year.
We also want to take a moment to genuinely thank the Texas Department of State Health Services. Their team worked tirelessly alongside local facilities, providing the feedback, conducting the inspections, and issuing the licenses camps needed to operate safely and on time. They showed up for our camps, and it made a difference.
Camping matters. It matters to kids who grow and discover who they are in the outdoors. It matters to families who have made these hills part of their story for generations. And it matters to this community, which depends on the life and spirit these camps bring every summer.
Camping is also a cornerstone of who we are in Kerr County, and helps keep our community strong and our economy thriving. Generations of Texans have grown up with camping deep in their soul, and the Hill Country has always been the place where that tradition lives and breathes.
