We made it through a year, so we’ve taken a few days to celebrate and get inspo for some upcoming endeavors 😏 We’re closed through Friday, back to our normal hours on Saturday (We’re here for you marathoners!)!

If you’re a Portland-based custie, keep your eyes peeled for some trash pandas emerging from the woods onto your city streets. And if you just want to ride along, follow our stories for our escapades in real time 😎

Holy smokes, trashies. We did it. Us. The collective Marmee Dearest scratchy crew. Owner, baristas, and all the best customers. Those who frequent and those who don’t. We love you.

My career has been filled with many false starts and heart shattering moments, but MDE has been one of the purest joys of my life. Exhausting and terrifying, and the first time I made a decision purely for myself. One year may not seem like a lot, but I dreamed of this day for decades. To have opened the doors to my broke ass lil space at all was incredibly empowering and your unwavering support has kept us going. I blew in here and tried something different and I count my lucky stars it was Kingfield. So, thank you. To my friends, my family, and my customers. I couldn’t have done it without you. And a special shoutout to the three best baristas and people who have made it all work, (my day 1!), .sala (latte art QUEEN), and (formerly behind bar but not in our hearts) . Absolute dream team.

Business owners just send their lil messages in a bottle out to sea and hope it lands gently on a beach where there are people who will enjoy them. I really rolled the dice with this one, but you guys keep showing up and cheering us on. So here we are, flying by the seat of our pants and working hard to deliver. One year, done and dusted.

We’ll just be over here fist pumping for the next month while we wait for everyone to peel off their wintertime cozies and start exposing their knees again (mine have a blinding effect 365. Don’t be jealous.). Note our adjusted hours until June. We’re staying open but giving ourselves more time to check dem boxes.

Anyway, here’s to year two for MDE HQ @ 256. We’re ready.

It’s that time of year, when everything swiftly goes quiet from ski season exhaustion and in anticipation of summer adventuring. As such, we’ll be changing our hours for the month of May. We’re staying open for you guys, but we’ll be closing early so we can get stuff done and prepare the space for more offerings this summer and room to test and create.

Our hours until June 3rd (outside of special events) are: Wednesday - Monday, 8:30am - 12:30pm. Same days, earlier cut off.

Our one year anniversary is coming up (wut 🤯) and we’ve got some other fun happenings stacked. We’ll share some dates soon for your calendaaaars 😏

It feels like a good day to catch our breaths and check some boxes in our personal lives, so we’ll be closing the shop at 12pm today!

To make what’s possibly disappointing news a little less so, we’ll be offering a discount on our retail coffee and baked goods today only 😎

We’re closing at 12:30pm today (Saturday) so the team can go to Smalls to the Wall! Get in before then for your fix or we’ll see you on Sunday for our normal hours 👋🏻

Tyler is one of our regulars and we're very excited to host him for the first of these events in our space. He was actually one of the first people I met in Kingfield when he gave my son a Jr. Deputy badge which we still have. Tyler is very kind and approachable, so come with questions and conversation - we're excited to see you!
