Lock 16 Café & Visitor Center is Illinois & Michigan Canal themed restaurant & visitor center for the I&M Canal National Heritage Area. The Lock 16 Visitor Center and the I&M Canal Boat are perfect venues for weddings/rehearsals, bridal and baby showers, birthdays, retirement parties, reunions, afternoon teas, after-hour parties, workshops, meetings and more when we are able to gather again!

*NEW* Experience the words that shaped a nation. 🇺🇸
Join us for a casual, interactive public reading of the Declaration of Independence on Tuesday, July 8. Rather than listening to a single speaker, participants will have the opportunity to read a portion of the Declaration aloud. We’ll distribute sections of the document to anyone who would like to participate, or you’re welcome to simply listen and enjoy the experience.

This event is part of a coordinated series of public readings taking place across Illinois and the nation to commemorate one of the earliest public readings of the Declaration of Independence, held on July 8, 1776, just four days after Congress adopted the document. Those early public readings helped share the news of American independence with citizens throughout the colonies, transforming the Declaration from words on parchment into a call embraced by communities.

Gather with us inside the I&M Canal Visitor Center as we read this cherished document together. The reading is FREE and open to all ages.

You can RSVP by contacting Ana Koval at [email protected]. If you’d like to participate by reading aloud, you may also request (or claim!) your assigned section of the Declaration in advance, so you have time to become familiar with it.

Jacque's Italian chopped salad is being featured today, it is loaded with fresh greens, black olives, pepperoncini, red onions, ham, tomato, spices and mozzarella tossed in Norma's dressing. Don't forget you can also wrap it in our delicious spinach tortillas. Our breakfast special is an English muffin topped with an egg, tomato, greens, cheddar and our housemade mustard dill sauce. Stop in and make your taste buds HAPPY!

Our breakfast feature today is our Black Bean Burger breakfast salad topped with an egg. The lunch panini is a Turkey, Roasted Red pepper, Cheddar and Red onion. Our soup is the Tomato Basil Bisque today. We cant wait to SEE you!

Our very berry pop tart is what's for breakfast! We also have a house made biscuit breakfast sandwich with dijon butter, ham, egg and swiss cheese. Our lunch specialty is a homeade hot honey, 3 cheese panini. We look forward to serving you ALL!
