The 45th parallel crosses through this vineyard in northern Michigan, just 5 degrees shy of the highest latitude where most wine 🍇 are grown. Yesterday I tasted about 9 wines including an orange wine made from Chardonnay. Swipe to see the progress of the dunes on each of the 3 varietals made using this ancient winemaking technique allowing white wine to be vinified as red. Depending on how long the 🍇 macerate and ferment on the skins will determine the color and flavor profile. It’s not for everyone, but definitely worth a try.

Cool tidbit of the day: The phenolics responsible for the red pigment in wine are the same that turn the 🍁 all these pretty colors in the Fall. Repost from of Leelanau County (where our new home is).

Studying for the CSW Exam is no joke. I just made my way out of France (3 months later) and into Italy and have not even gotten half way through the study guide. You know that label wrapped around or vertically placed up top by the cork on Italian wines with numbers and regions? That’s an indication of guaranteed classification. Zoom in for these DOCGs by region and please say a prayer 🙏 for me! 🍷
