My boys and basketball…
They don’t have to be the best.
On the court, some players shine brightly, and others play the role that helps that light shine. Both matter.
Sometimes I wonder how my boys fell in love with basketball.
Their dad and I are more drawn to books, thoughts, and quiet reflection than sports.
There are moments when I watch incredibly talented players and feel unsure—how tall will my boys grow? How far can they go, surrounded by athletes with different physical advantages and backgrounds? And as a parent, I question how long I can stand strong and fully support them in this journey.
But today, I reset my heart again.
If my boys are enjoying it, that is enough.
No matter how long they play, no matter how far they go, I will cheer for them without expectation or regret.
Play your hardest.
Train with everything you’ve got.
Don’t be discouraged by others’ opinions.
Be yourself, fully and freely.
Keep going as long as you want, as long as you can—joyfully and wholeheartedly.
I believe the joy and effort you give today will become strength for your future.
So don’t hesitate. Don’t hold back. Just run.
Jedidiah Lee, Josiah Lee— you guys are already my best players!! ❤️💕👍👍
