The homestead has officially welcomed the turkeys!
Every day we toss chicken feed out for our free-range chickens, and now the turkeys have decided they'd like to join the crew. It's been so fun watching them hang out together and make themselves right at home.
One of our favorite parts of homestead life is sharing our little piece of the world with the wildlife that stops by. Whether it's wild birds, deer, or now these beautiful turkeys, moments like these remind us just how special country living really is.
Life is a little slower, a little quieter, and full of simple blessings. ❤️

Just a few pictures from our walk around the homestead today... ❤️
🌱 The garden is growing like crazy! If it keeps this up, it'll be feeding the neighborhood.
🍐🍎 The pear and apple trees are showing off this year. Now we're just hoping the wildlife remembers they're our snacks!
🥚 The quail are laying like little overachievers... and we're getting some beautiful bluish eggs too!
🦆 Willow and River... well... they were given fresh, clean water. Five minutes later it looked like they were making duck soup. Apparently muddy water tastes better. 🤷‍♀️
🦚 The pheasants are getting prettier every day. Pretty sure they know it too!
🐇 The bunnies have been busy making more bunnies... because apparently they didn't get the memo about taking a day off. 😂
Some people go for peaceful walks to relax... around here we go for a walk and end up checking gardens, counting eggs, laughing at muddy ducks, admiring fancy pheasants, and wondering who's having babies next!
Wouldn't trade this crazy, muddy, feather-filled life for anything. ♡
Hope everyone had a wonderful day!!

Some days you just need to slow down and take it all in. ♡♡
Walking around the homestead today, admiring the garden, checking on the baby bunnies we have available, watching the pheasants grow—one of them is getting the most beautiful colors—and seeing a few of our animals happily roaming free.
Then I stopped to watch our sheep and couldn't help but smile at how well the baby is growing. 🐑💕
Moments like these remind me why we chose this life. It's not always easy, and it's definitely not always pretty, but the peace that comes from walking around the homestead, surrounded by family, animals, and the work we've poured our hearts into... it's something truly special.
Grateful for this simple, peaceful life.

Doing chores today, I noticed our pig, Bacon, had a scratch on her side. Of course, the first thing I did was start looking around to figure out what she could have rubbed against.
Moments like this remind me that, yes, our animals may one day become a food source, but that never changes how much we care for them while they're with us.
They are loved, watched over, and maybe even a little spoiled. ❤️
On these hot days they enjoy cooling off with frozen water pucks filled with fresh veggies and fruit, leftovers from our kitchen, and plenty of fresh water. Our ducks, chickens, rabbits, and pigs all get little treats and extra attention. We're still learning the best enrichment for our quail and pheasants, but they'll get there too.
Being a homesteader means doing your best every single day. We check on our animals, celebrate the good days, learn from the hard ones, and always strive to give them the best life we can.
At Halfmoon Family Homestead, caring for our animals isn't just part of the job—it's part of who we are. ❤️🌿
