One book, One County. I didn't even realize this was a thing, but all the libraries in Montcalm County collaborate on a book selection for summer book clubs. Today was the reveal at MCC and I was able to provide the meal. It was a simple meal of tossed salad, potato salad, calico baked beans, and shredded chicken sandwiches. There was apple pie for dessert from Anderson & Girls. It was a fun event and I'm excited to work with the great people at the college for future events.

PS- the book is titled "The Ride" by Kostya Kennedy. Happy 250th, USA!

On Sunday, May 17th we were able to help the family of Amparo Gonzalez (the elder) grieve her passing and celebrate her life. Her daughter, (also) Amparo, was the school secretary when I was still teaching. The younger Amparo's daughter, April Schaap, is my husband's niece's best friend. I hold this family close to my heart.

50+ family and friends met in The Gathering, the meeting space connected to The Red Lantern in Edmore. It was our first time at this venue. It was super cute and I look forward to future events here.

The mourners found comfort in each other and a shared meal. We were able to provide tossed salad, grape salad, confetti corn, rice pilaf, cheesy potatoes, American smothered chicken, carved roast beef, brownie trifle, and cheesecake.

Most people don't want to consider their own death, but it is inevitable. Even more so than taxes! Through catering and my years working at the church, I've interacted with many families at one of the most difficult times in their lives. So many people are overwhelmed by all the decisions that need to be made or doubt themselves when it comes to honoring their loved one. Pre-planning takes so much of the burden off your family. I highly recommend coming to check out what you can do to help them when the inevitable does happen. There's no cost for attending. No commitment. No pressure. And guess who's providing the light dinner??? Hope to see you there.

We were able to help Ken Palmer and family by providing the meal after the funeral service for Victoria Green. The cold deli meal included sandwich options offering rolls, turkey, ham, cheddar, Swiss, and assorted toppings. They also had potato and pasta salads and a veggie tray. Dessert included fresh fruit or Rockstar cookies (Tollhouse base with semisweet chunks, white chocolate chips, toffee bits, and pretzel pieces.) Of course, we had beverages, too.

The Montcalm Townships Board Association gets together every other month. On Thursday, April 16th they had their latest meeting. We served them dinner at the Road Commission for Montcalm County. It consisted of coleslaw, taco salad, cheesy potatoes, and pulled chicken. There were sandwich buns and 3 different kinds of sauce, if desired. Dessert included chocolate brownies, pb cookies, and monster cookies. Of course, there were beverages: water, fruit punch, and coffee.

So after having taken multiple meals over to a local woman, I was finally able to meet up with her benefactor. Pat reached out to the church where I used to work asking for some help from our Knights of Columbus. The guys went over to Joyce's place and repaired a few things. Ever since, Pat has stayed in touch having me make and deliver soup and other foods about once/month. All I knew was that she was a friend from Georgia. Turns out, we were within a half hour of each other so while on spring break we had to make sure to meet up. We had a delicious breakfast at the Marietta Diner accompanied by great conversation. It was a pleasure meeting you in person and I look forward to our continued business arrangement. (Pat is shy. 🤭)

So even when I'm states away (currently in New Orleans airport, hopefully soon to be in Atlanta, GA), I've got an awesome crew who keeps the business running.

Today we got to help Pam and her brother say goodbye to their dad, Wally McComb. The luncheon was held at the old elementary in Six Lakes. The menu included ham and turkey with cheese sandwiches, potato salad, pasta salad, a sandwich topping tray, a pickle "tray", and peanut butter or chocolate sheet cake for dessert.

A special thanks goes out to Barb Steve Davidson, Teri Skaggs, Chrissy Cmc Cassidy, and Brinley Skaggs for making sure the show went on. You guys rock!!! 🥰

We had the privilege of helping the VFW Lakeview #3701 recognize many deserving people, businesses, and organizations at this year's Honor Banquet. Congratulations to all! Thank you, Stacey and Jen, for letting us help celebrate all these great folks.

Dinner included Renaissance chicken, Honey Dijon pork loin, mashed potatoes and gravy, confetti corn, roasted vegetables, and tossed salad. They had cheesecake and carrot cake for dessert.

I completely forgot to post after our last event. 🤦‍♀️

We were able to help Roger Taylor and his sons Troy and Tim and their families honor Jan, his wife of almost 60 years. I had the honor of meeting and getting to know Jan during her last couple weeks of life. What a spitfire! She was the kind of lady I hope to be at her age.

It was our first time at Brecht's Signature Events in Six Lakes. We were showered with love! 💦💖😉

Lunch included sloppy joe sandwiches, ham & scalloped potatoes, tossed salad, cottage cheese, green beans, jello salad, and old-fashioned rice pudding. Family and friends provided lots of other cakes and cookies.

Tonight's catering was for the Montcalm County Townships Board Association. These public servants come together every other month to learn and collaborate in an effort to make our communities great places to live. To give them strength for the job, we provided dinner: taco salad, cottage cheese, buttered green beans, ham & scalloped potatoes, chocolate and peanut butter sheet cakes, as well as beverages.
