Some days remind you just how quickly plans can change. The day started with a 5 a.m. seizure from Miss Gravy, which put a lot of things into perspective and threw a wrench into the day.

Even so, we were able to keep moving forward and make it down to Firehouse 25 in Kensington to serve lunch for the shift change crew. This meal was made possible by the winner of our first raffle fundraiser to help Dr. Driy get his teeth fixed.

Next week we’ll announce our next raffle, but today was a reminder of what community is all about—neighbors helping neighbors. And judging by the smiles, I think the firefighters enjoyed it too

Well looks like you can bring your grad by for lunch on the patio for lunch after graduation now on Saturday.

Let’s hope the weather holds off for my fireman lunch/dinner I am serving later this afternoon

WEATHER ALERT, GRADUATION CEREMONY POSTPONED: After careful review of the latest weather forecasts and extensive consultation with an AccuWeather meteorologist, Bucks County school administrators, our Middletown Township Police Department partners, and the District and school administration, we have decided to reschedule Neshaminy High School's graduation ceremony to Saturday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m.
This decision was not made lightly. Our primary goal has always been to provide our graduates and their families with the memorable outdoor graduation experience they have anticipated and deserve. However, the forecast for this evening and the rest of the week includes the potential for severe thunderstorms, including lightning that would require stadium evacuation, and dangerous heat conditions, with a Heat Advisory in effect. Based on the latest information available, we believe rescheduling the ceremony is the best decision for the health, safety, and well-being of our graduates, families, staff, and guests.
By moving the ceremony to Saturday morning, we are maximizing the opportunity to hold graduation outdoors while providing a safer and more enjoyable experience for our entire school community. We know this change may require adjustments to your plans, and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we prioritize the safety of all attendees.
Additional details regarding Saturday's ceremony will be communicated as soon as possible.
We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 together on Saturday and thank you for your continued support of our graduates.

Saw this mug today and couldn’t help but laugh.

“Be a unicorn in a sea of horses.”

Pretty much sums up how I’ve lived most of my life.

First, thank you to the guy who stopped me to say hello while I was wandering around 2nd Ave Thrift. Encounters like that still catch me off guard, but they always make my day.

I’ve never been one to do things because “that’s how everyone else does it.” Whether it’s how I run the Joint, the fundraiser ideas we come up with, or some of the crazy projects I take on, I’ve always believed in following my own path.

The funny thing about choosing a different road is that it tends to attract opinions. Social media has made it easier than ever for people to tell you what they think you should be doing, how you should be doing it, or why your idea won’t work.

The truth is, if I had listened to all those opinions over the years, Jay’s Joint wouldn’t be what it is today. Some ideas have worked, some haven’t, but every one of them taught me something.

At the end of the day, I’d rather be authentic than spend my life trying to fit into someone else’s mold.

So here’s your reminder: it’s okay to be the unicorn. The world already has plenty of horses. 🦄

We’re not booking the Ambassador for the 2026 season, but tomorrow she gets to share the pretzel roll love with some Philadelphia firefighters.

The winner of our recent raffle chose to use her prize to feed her husband and the crew he works with, so today I got the Ambassador cleaned up and ready for her first event of the season.

We’ll be doing more raffles and a few other fundraisers throughout the year to help raise money to fix Andriy’s teeth—or as I like to call him, Dr. Driy.

In the meantime, the Joint will be back open Thursday serving up pretzel roll cheesesteaks, chicken fingers, milkshakes, and more. Thanks to everyone who continues to support our little neighborhood spot and the projects that mean so much to us

Mondays are usually reserved for cleaning the ice cream machine, but this morning those plans got pushed back for a stack of party tray orders.

One of the things I love about our party trays is that you don’t have to choose between regular rolls and pretzel rolls—you can have both on the same tray and keep everyone happy.

Whether you’re feeding an office, a graduation party, a family gathering, or just a hungry crowd, we’ve got you covered with gluten-free and gluten-full options.

We know we don’t answer phones at the Joint, but party trays are easy to order:

📱 Call or text 215-741-6555

Now that the trays are done, maybe I can finally get back to that ice cream machine.

Another week in the books, and another week without our ice cream cookie sandwiches.

I figured it was time for a little transparency.

Like everyone else, we’re feeling the effects of rising costs. The gluten-free cookies we use for our ice cream sandwiches have now more than doubled in price from when we first started carrying them. I’ve spent the last few weeks trying to find a more affordable option from another gluten-free baker and even looking into the possibility of making them in-house.

The cookies have gotten so expensive that I’d need to charge over $10 for an ice cream sandwich just to maintain the same margins we’ve always had. That’s not a price I’m comfortable asking people to pay, so for now we’ve decided to hit pause while we look for a better solution.

For now, we’ll be bringing back slices of ice cream cake, and after our vacation in a few weeks, I’m hoping we’ll have a new plan in place. More details on that tomorrow.

On a related note, we’ve been reopened for 7 months now, and today I received our sixth notice that beef prices are going up again—another 20 cents per pound starting next week. I bought enough to get us through until vacation, hopefully giving me some time to figure out what comes next. There comes a point where you can only absorb rising costs for so long before decisions have to be made.

At the same time, I’m trying to manage my own health, continue losing weight so I can have the surgery I need, run the day-to-day operations of the Joint, and keep prices as reasonable as possible for our customers. Some days it feels like every challenge shows up at once.

But we’re still here. We’re still fighting. We’re still serving the gluten-free and gluten-full food that got us here in the first place. And we’re still doing everything we can to keep Jay’s Joint affordable for the families who support us.

Thank you for sticking with us through all of it. ❤️

— Jay

Growing Up on Jay’s Joint

One of the best parts of being here for all these years is getting to watch kids grow up.

This little guy has been part of the Jay’s Joint family for years. Even when in his momma’s belly . As a toddler , chicken fingers were always his go-to order. But about 7 years ago, when we introduced our gluten-free pretzel roll cheesesteaks, everything changed. One bite and he was hooked.

The gluten-free community has always been a huge part of our story, and photos like this remind us how many families we’ve been lucky enough to serve through the years. The kids in these old pictures are getting bigger, but some things never change… a great cheesesteak is still a great cheesesteak.

We’re here until 8 PM tonight serving up gluten-free and gluten-full cheesesteaks, chicken fingers, onion explosions, fried pickles, and more.

Stop by and make a few memories of your own. ❤️

This photo popped up in my memories today, and it really puts into perspective how quickly time flies.

Three siblings sitting on my mom’s bench under her Tree of Life, enjoying milkshakes at the Joint. Back when this picture was taken, I believe the oldest sister was heading into kindergarten. This fall, if I have my math right, she’ll be heading to middle school. The youngest, who wasn’t much more than a toddler then, is getting ready to start kindergarten himself.

Somehow, those years went by in the blink of an eye.

I never had kids of my own, but over the last 20 years I’ve been lucky enough to have thousands of “Jay’s Joint Kids.” I’ve watched first-day-of-school photos turn into graduation pictures, booster seats turn into driver’s licenses, and little kids ordering milkshakes turn into young adults bringing in friends of their own.

Mom always believed that food brings people together, and photos like this remind me that she was right. The food matters, but the memories and the people matter even more.

Early start to my day here at the Joint.

This time of year, I’d normally be loading up the Ambassador and heading out to graduations, parties, and events. Unfortunately, the truck won’t be booking for the 2026 season.

The reason is pretty simple: staffing.

Since reopening, we still haven’t been able to build the full team we need to comfortably handle the day-to-day operations at the Joint and get the Ambassador back out on the road. As much as I miss it, my first responsibility is making sure we’re taking care of our guests here at home.

The good news? We’re open today from 11 AM–8 PM serving up pretzel roll cheesesteaks, flour-tossed chicken fingers, Onion Explosions, fried pickles, and more. And yes — the chicken fingers, Onion Explosions, and fried pickles are all available gluten-free and prepared celiac-safe from our dedicated gluten-free kitchen.

It’s going to be a hot one today, so here’s a pro tip: a milkshake or an old-fashioned soda float makes a 90-degree day a whole lot more bearable.

Hope to see you at the Joint!

Most people don’t know this, but Jay the Mascot is actually almost a year older than Jay’s Joint.

Back when I was getting ready to leave the franchise world and start what would eventually become Jay’s Joint, I had a plan. I ordered a mascot in June to help get people familiar with “Jay” before the restaurant even existed.

The original plan? My dad was supposed to wear the suit, stand on the sidewalk, and wave a sign for whatever deal or special I was promoting that week.

Then life changed.

My dad passed away in August.

The mascot arrived in September, and suddenly the person who was supposed to wear it was gone. To make matters worse, I was already too big to fit into the fat suit myself. So the mascot got packed away.

Over the years, a few different people have worn the suit, but nobody has embraced the role quite like my wife. She even has a full-blown “Jay” voice that comes out whenever the mascot makes an appearance.

Today, after losing 135 pounds, I can finally wear the suit too. I’ve still got another 20-25 pounds to lose before I can have my hernia surgery, but fitting into the mascot is one of those milestones I never expected to hit.

It’s funny how things work out. What started as a marketing idea became a reminder of my dad, and years later it’s still around making people smile.

So if you see Jay the Mascot around town, make sure you say hi. Just know there’s a pretty good chance it’s my wife in there doing the voice.

The weather is beautiful, and we’re back open!

One thing that surprises a lot of people is that our meatballs have been made with gluten-free breadcrumbs for the last 13 years. Not because we set out to make “gluten-free meatballs”—but because that’s just how we’ve always done it.

They’re made fresh, they’re huge, and they’re prepared in our dedicated gluten-free kitchen, making them celiac-safe when ordered from the gluten-free side of the kitchen.

Whether you’re stopping in for one of our giant meatballs, a pretzel roll cheesesteak, or one of your other Jay’s favorites, we’ve got you covered.

The patio is open, the sun is out, and it’s a perfect day for outdoor dining or takeout.

Come enjoy the weather and let us do the cooking!

Food Bank Day – 12 Years and Counting
Today is Food Bank Day, and it marks 12 years since we started this program.
When I got out of the franchise system, I made a promise to myself: if I could keep my head above water, I would take some of the money I used to send out every week in royalties and use it to help local food banks instead.
For the first seven years in business, those royalty checks went elsewhere. Since then, we've been able to redirect those dollars back into our community.
Today, we're delivering 840 pounds of chicken breasts and chicken quarters, bringing our total donations over the years to more than 120,000 pounds of food.
In the beginning, we donated a mix of fresh fruit and meats. In 2016, the pantry told us that protein was their hardest item to obtain through state programs and donations, so we shifted our focus to providing a consistent protein source. When I hear there's a need, I try to fill it. That's just how I operate.
It's also why we're currently running a raffle to help Dre get a new smile. You still have a couple of days to get your tickets.
Tickets are $5 each via Venmo:
One lucky winner will receive lunch for themselves and up to 50 coworkers on June 10th.
Thanks to everyone who continues to support what we do. Have a great day. I'll be seeing the food bank volunteers in about 15 minutes, and hopefully I'll see the rest of you later this week for a fresh roll of cheesesteaks and more.

It’s gonna be a beautiful weekend here at the Joint! The patio is fully open, and it looks like we’ve got nothing but sunshine ahead. Don’t worry though — we’ve got the roof to keep you cool and out of the sun.
And that milk crate tower in the back? Just my attempt at repurposing our ice cream crates into backyard “garden art.” So be sure to order a shake and help me keep growing the garden one crate at a time 🍦🌿

Monday is Food Bank Day here at The Joint — and this month marks 12 years since we started our monthly food bank donations.
Back in 2013, after getting out of the franchise and becoming Jay’s Steak & Hoagie Joint — a name chosen by our customers through a vote — I promised myself that if we made it one year on our own, I would give a portion of our sales back to local food banks instead of paying royalties to a blood-sucking franchise.

Fast forward to today, and since June 2014 we’ve donated more than 120,000 pounds of food — including fruits, vegetables, meats, chicken breasts, chicken quarters, and even dozens of eggs whenever we can.

We switched to mostly protein donations in 2016 because that’s what many families need most. Even with food prices climbing out of control over the last four years, we’ve stayed committed to helping however we can.

Food Bank Day happens the first Monday of every month and usually only takes about an hour. Thank you to every customer, volunteer, and supporter who has helped make this possible over the last 12 years. We truly couldn’t do it without you.
