LaPlace Frostop

LaPlace Frostop Home of the Lot-O-Burger & Frosted Mug Root Beer! Est. 1958 Mr. Their daughter, Terry, joined her parents as owner-manager after graduating from LSU in 1993.
(712)

Built by Morris Terry in 1958, The LaPlace Frostop has become a fixture on Airline Hwy (US 61) in LaPlace, Louisiana. Terry leased out the restaurant until 1973 when his daughter Evelyn, and her husband Jimmie Toler, took over. Even though The LaPlace Frostop has completed two renovations, the first in 1981 and again in 1996, it has retained its old-fashioned, drive-in atmosphere. Today, The LaPla

ce Frostop continues to proudly serve the River Parishes area with our tried and true blend of tasty drive-in treats and local favorites.

Today, June 1, 2026, marks 53 years since my Dad, Jimmie Toler, stepped in as the owner and manager of the LaPlace Frostop.

My grandfather, Morris Terry, originally built the Frostop 68 years ago in 1958 as an investment, leasing it out until my Dad took over in 1973.

I joined my Dad 33 years ago, in 1993, and have been managing the day-to-day operation of the LaPlace Frostop ever since.

Three generations. One Drive-In. Since 1958.

For many travelers driving Historic Airline Highway, the giant rotating root beer mug at LaPlace Frostop is a sign they've found something rare.

A real American drive-in, still serving burgers, onion rings, and frosty mugs of homemade root beer just like it has since 𝟭𝟵𝟱𝟴.

Over the years, we've welcomed guests from across Louisiana, across the United States, and even from around the world.

Preserving a place doesn't mean leaving it unchanged.

It means protecting what matters while continuing to improve it. That's how places survive long enough to become traditions.

After Hurricane Ida damaged our famous rotating mug, we made the decision to rebuild it. Not just as a sign, but as a commitment to keeping this piece of roadside history spinning for the next generation.

For 𝟲𝟴 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀, that's exactly what we've tried to do, preserving what makes the LaPlace Frostop special while continuing to invest in its future.
