In 2002 my family was impacted by the tragic death of the matriarch of the family, Alejandra Chavez Macedo, - an amazing woman who lost her battle to cancer. The owner, Gonzalo Chavez, quit his job as a welder to take care of their three small children: Gonzalo Chavez, Yaney Chavez, and Jacqueline Chavez. Alejandra always wished to be the owner of her own restaurant and as a tribute to her memory,
Gonzalo Chavez opened up a Mexican mobile unit. Currently, the business is located at 1400 East Lohman, Las Cruces, New Mexico 88001. The food we offer our customers range from Tacos, Burritos, Tortas, Quesadillas, Nachos and a variety of seafood dishes. The choices of meat range from Carne Asada (Steak), Al Pastor (Marinated Pork), Pollo (Chicken), and Barbacoa (Beef Cheek). We also offer a variety of seafood dishes that range from Tostadas de Camaron (Shrimp Tostadas), Coctel de Camaron (Shrimp Cocktail), Quesadillas de Camaron (Shrimp Quesadilla), and Tacos de Camaron (Shrimp Tacos). Taqueria Chavez also sells a variety of Platillos/Plates: Camarones Rancheros, Camarones a la Diabla, Steak Ranchero, and Fajitas de Pollo. Our tacos are garnished with cilantro, onions, a special red hot sauce we make daily and we place a piece of lime on the side. We would like to invite everyone to try our food and we welcome any suggestions on how to improve or dishes. Our dream is to someday expand or mobile unit into an actual restaurant where our customers will be able to sit down. This restaurant will be built in the same location: 1400 East Lohman, Las Cruces, NM, 88001.
