The Roost is the name of our family farm in Western Kansas and stands for working hard for what you love. Timber claimed in the late 1800's the Kinter family established their roots, working the land, raising a family and falling in the love with beautiful Kansas landscape that surrounded them. The Roost on Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence is inspired by that same strong Kansas work ethic

and determination. It will focus most of its energy on the art of hostipality accomponied by delicious, consistent food and drink to suit your every need. Our menu items will be created by careful hands with inventory puchased from a variety of local and specialty purveyor's. Fine espresso and coffee will be brought to you by Broadway Coffee out of Kansas City and New Mission Coffee from right here in Lawrence. Our cocktail menu will focus on libations that compliment our specific cuisine, and our bakery will feature numerous fresh baked daily items soon to be common classics. Many bakery items may be purchased in bulk for special events and ordered to meet specific dietary needs.

Dear Roost - Today is your 13th birthday and I wholeheartedly don’t know where to begin… Thank you for the space you offer and the community you welcome in and feed every day. Thank you for being a place that people find inviting and comforting when needed. Thank you for all the wonderful people that have been drawn to apply and work here over the years. Thank you for helping us realize our dream and supporting our family. It’s hard to know what to type here for the world to read. If you’ve stopped by and visited over the years… you know. The Roost is special and we love you so much.

Hmmm… where to start? This is Dan Mauga. OG of The Roost and beyond. Sean & I have had the honor of working alongside this guy for pretty much the last nearly 25 years. Can that be real? He is a dear friend, kickball teammate, and it is impossible at this moment to imagine not working with him.

Dan, to say we’re going to miss you is an understatement. Being with us through the early planning, the demolition, the remodeling, and day one through today - you will forever and always be part of The Roost.

Thank you for every bit of energy you’ve given, for making us laugh with your witty one liners, well timed movie quotes and revised song lyrics. You are the one and only Daniel Mauga and it has been an honor to work with you all these years.

We wish you & Jess all the best and cannot wait to meet little baby Danchez. We love you buddy ❤️
