There are two permits required to ride in the Black Hills on ATV/UTV depending on which state you are licensed in. Please read the information so you are prepared. We also recommend using Avenza Maps over OnX. Some trails in the Black Hills are limited to vehicle size, which Avenza shows. The Forest Service has been giving fines for wrong size vehicle on the wrong trail, being on closed trails, as well as improper permits. Plan ahead for your trip!
