At note from my husband:

Good morning to you Lansdowne Woods. At Marie De La Fleur we wish to thank our veterans for their service. Every day I Ispend most of my day here. I speak to so many people and it never ceases to amaze me on how many veterans I talk to on the daily. My family has served in multiple branches and conflicts for over 5 generations and more so today matters to me personally.

From one veteran to so many others in this place I call my second home (hard to believe I would think of a restaurant as my second home) I see you, I recognize you and I appreciate all you have been through for our country. Thank you for your service. For me I hold firmly to the motto of the Signal Corp which is “pro patria vigilans” which means “watchful for the country”, and one way we can watch is by making sure no person goes hungry.

Since we are closed today and after speaking with my wife we will be doing a free lunch buffet for veterans on Tuesday Nov 12 2024 from Noon until 2pm.

I ask that you bear with me as I write this emotional message. This is not intended for the management of Lansdowne Woods or BOD, but for the current and future patrons of Marie De La Fleur.

Many of you know that, because of the absence of family in my own life, I’ve embraced those around me as my extended family. Over the past year, I’ve watched us cultivate a restaurant that goes beyond food—it has become a place that brings unity and belonging, reminding us that even if we’re far from those related by blood, family is still here.

There’s the aunt who takes care of everyone, the fashionable one who reminds us that youth is timeless, and the wise one who stands tall for her beliefs. We have the uncle and aunt who bring laughter and joy, and the 99-year-old grandmother who shows us that life’s possibilities are endless. Then there’s the father figure who checks in, cooks delicious ribs and shrimp, and reminds us that love is always unconditional.

Yesterday, I left work early, feeling down about a missed opportunity, but in my sadness, I found joy. A "family member" sent me a video, showing that even in my absence, you all carried on the spirit of togetherness. You celebrated the return of a loved one from the hospital with song and dance, keeping our sense of family alive.

This is what Marie De La Fleur is: it’s not just a restaurant; it’s our shared dining table, where you are loved, appreciated, and always among family. If you choose not to be part of this, I am truly saddened, but if you do, we welcome you with open arms. The way to make Lansdowne Woods great is by coming together, and the best place to do that is around the dinner table.

Thank you for showing me that, even as I helped you realize we are family, you embraced it wholeheartedly.

Today Fleur De Cuisine delivered meals to over 800 of Loydoun Counties First Responders which included Emergency Room Staff, Firefighters, Police Officers, EMS. Thank you for supporting our community and a personal thank you for saving my life!!!
