Coffee & Conversations is back ☕️

Good ideas start with good conversations.

I am excited to bring back this series of relaxed, drop-in conversations at Blue Jay Coffee.

Over the next few months, we'll talk about the ideas, opportunities, and challenges shaping our communities - not through speeches or debates, but through honest conversation. We'll explore everything from preparing the next generation for success to building a stronger economy, protecting what makes Maine special, and strengthening trust in government.

Each gathering has a featured topic, but you're always welcome to bring your own questions, concerns, and ideas. Some of the best conversations start somewhere completely unexpected.

No speeches or formal program - just coffee and conversation.

Good morning!!

I’ve made the tough decision to close on Sundays and Mondays going forward, which will allow for me to expand our baked goods and food offerings and give me some time to recover! We are operating with a small crew this summer, and I’m too stubborn to change a lot of what we do best (house-made almost everything, people who remember your order and love you, drinks made the right way with quality ingredients). After turning *cough*35*cough* last month, I realized I’m not about to rally quite like I used to in my early food service days 🙄 so the extra few hours to put my feet up, work out, and take care of my home are more and more important to me! Going forward we will be open Tuesday-Saturday! We will still open at 7 on weekdays to allow all the early birds time to get their treats. (Thanks for reading all this 😂)

It’s about the family-owned bakery where they know your order by heart. The little bookstore with shelves curated by someone who truly loves to read. The florist, the farm stand, the coffee shop, the boutique, the antique store… the places that give our towns their personality.

Every time a small business closes, we lose something that can’t be replaced by a big-box store or an online warehouse.

Small businesses sponsor the local teams, donate gift certificates for fundraisers, employ your neighbors, brighten up Main Streets, and keep our communities feeling like home.

But here’s the reality…

Many wonderful small businesses are working harder than ever just to keep their doors open. And many are closing.

If there’s a place you’ve been meaning to visit…
Go this weekend.

If you’ve been thinking about buying that gift…
Buy it locally.

If you’re deciding between adding another item to an online cart or taking a short drive into town…
Choose the drive.

Your purchase is never “just a purchase.” It’s a vote for the kind of community you want to live in.
