Suggestions for Kids Tea Parties at Home!
As nice as it can be to go out for tea, it can be even more fun for kids to have tea parties at home, and it doesn't need to be fancy. Kids love to pour & stir & serve themselves & others. Thrift stores & garage sales are great places to find accessories for parties for kids, so if something gets broken, it's no big deal.
*Pick up a small teapot, sugar bowl & creamer, and a few small plates from a thrift store or garage sale. They don't need to match.
*Demitasse cups (aka espresso cups) are inexpensive and the perfect size for young kids. And they're easy to find on-line if you can't find them at a thrift store.
* While you're at the thrift store, look for fun things to dress up - scarves, costume jewelry, hats, etc.
*Plan a simple menu together - something full of finger food: sliced fruit or fruit kabobs, vanilla wafers, cheese & crackers, finger sandwiches, etc. Let them help prepare.
*Invite a friend or two, or a relative or two. Put aside your phones & devices. Show them how to set the table to make it pretty (have plenty of napkins on hand). Show them how to pour, so they can do it themselves (have plenty of napkins on hand). Please & thank you are nice, but there's no need to prompt them. This doesn't need to be a lesson on etiquette, they'll catch on from your example.
