Switzerland Inn and Chalet Restaurant are at Milepost 334 on the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC. We specialize in special events, weddings and mountain-top getaways.

Cottages, Cabins, Suites and hotel rooms (Main Lodge) available April-November. The only place to stay on the NC Parkway that is a privately-owned accommodation. Perfect for weekend getaways, a vacation base-camp and for a gathering place for clubs, corporate meetings and family groups. Full service, gourmet restaurant. Swimming pool, hot tubs, tennis, the Fowl Play Pub and terrace dining are available for guests.

Inn the Area: Bare Dark Sky Observatory ✨

Trade the city lights for a sky full of stars at Bare Dark Sky Observatory, located within the Mayland Earth to Sky Park. Home to one of the largest public telescopes in the Southeast, this International Dark Sky Park offers an unforgettable look at the night sky high above the Blue Ridge Mountains.

During Community Viewing Nights, guests can observe planets, stars, and the moon through the observatory’s impressive telescopes while learning from on-site astronomers. If mountain weather rolls in, programs move indoors to the planetarium for an equally immersive experience.

Tickets are required in advance, and cool mountain evenings call for cozy layers, closed-toed shoes, and a flashlight in hand. A perfect evening adventure after a day spent exploring the mountains.

Friends & Familiar Faces: Sheila ✨

If you've spent time around the restaurants at Switzerland Inn, you've likely met Sheila. A Mitchell County native, Sheila has been part of the team for three years, serving guests behind the bar, in the dining room, and wherever else she's needed. When she's not at work, she enjoys time with her two children, two grandchildren, her church community, and days spent on Lake James.

Sheila is also the creator of our fan-favorite Peanut Butter & Jelly Old Fashioned. If you've ordered one, you have her to thank. Some say she’s the "Dolly Parton of Little Switzerland," and we think the title fits just right.

Would you believe there are 70 collective years of service represented in this photo? Lorena, Sierra, Juliana, Tracy, Jason, Lidia, and Amanda were recognized by our MMI family last week for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to Switzerland Inn.
