We will be closed today for some deep reflection.
Today we're holding a few things at once.
We love this country β€” the people in it, the communities we get to be part of, the freedoms worth protecting. We're grateful for that, and we mean it.
We're also holding the harder truths: that the founders who wrote about liberty owned other human beings, that "patriotism" can curdle into something darker if we're not careful, and that loving a country doesn't mean looking away from what it's done β€” or what it's doing now.
For a lot of us, this year especially, pride in our country feels complicated. If that's you β€” if the fireworks and flags feel more uneasy than celebratory right now β€” we get it, and there's space for that here too.
So today, we're celebrating the people, the community, and the hope that this country can still become more of what it claims to be. That feels worth celebrating.
Wishing you a thoughtful Fourth.

We always have to ask ourselves why others feel so inclined to be bothered by the q***r lifestyle? Loving who we love has no consequence to other people.

Yet, Crossroads Church felt the need to have a concert on the floating stage the night before Pride In The Haven and a man on the mic asked for everyone to β€œpray that people come out of the lgbt lifestyle.”

This was witnessed by a local community member.

Make no mistake, this event by a Jersey Shore church was requested to be happening the night before Pride, in downtown Lock Haven for a reason. Can we prove it? Nope. But we all know.

These are some of the same folks making abhorrent comments on our page, who are being blocked by the dozens. Accusing the LGBTQ community of grooming and harming children.

Meanwhile, β€œBrian Witner, 39, of Jersey Shore has been charged with multiple felonies, including r@pe of a child. He is a seasonal teacher at Crossroads Child Learning Center in Jersey Shore, according to their website, and lead the Crossroads Kidz Club in his Crossroads biography.”

This is not an anti-religious post. This is a post pointing out hypocrisy. Take care of your own house, Crossroads, you don’t need to judge ours.

Today’s Pride Sponsor Spotlight focuses on a husband and wife business-owning duo: White Knight Game Room and Two Maiden’s Tea Room! Many of our supporters frequent these two places as a safe space in town. Two Maidens, fondly referred to as β€˜The Aly’s’, giant Pride flag is like a beacon for us!

Seriously, thank you to Alex, Ali and Aly for so much support over the years!

On June 19, 1865 β€” two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation β€” enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free. That delay wasn't an accident. It was the first lesson in a pattern we're still living through: freedom withheld, truth arriving late, history told on someone else's timeline.
This Juneteenth, we're not just celebrating. We're paying attention.
Across the country, monuments are coming down β€” not the ones that glorified slavery, but the ones that honored the people who survived it, organized against it, and built something out of its wreckage. Curriculums are being narrowed. Archives are being quietly edited. The story is being managed, not told.
Erasure doesn't always look like burning books. Sometimes it looks like a plaque removed "for renovation." A unit cut "for time." A museum exhibit that quietly closes and never reopens. The mechanism changes; the goal doesn't.
That's exactly why this day matters more, not less, right now.
Juneteenth has always been about a community refusing to let its own history be decided by someone else. That refusal is the tradition we're standing in today. Remembering out loud, together, in public, is not a small act β€” it's the opposite of what erasure depends on.
So today we hold the names. We tell the stories the way they actually happened. We stand with each other, and with everyone working to protect the truth of this history, wherever that work is happening.
Freedom delayed is still freedom denied somewhere. Today, we don't let the story be delayed too.
Happy Juneteenth. Solidarity, always. ✊🏿
