004 - Space for Summer
As we approach our one year anniversary, we're doing some serious reflection on where to focus our attention and energy. More on that next month, but for now, coffee, hi-fi, and community engagement! In July, we'll introduce more intentional listening events, highlight some exciting (and wild) coffees, and embrace the creative community engagement we've gotten so much out of in the past few months. These moments have brought us great joy and peace, especially as we continue to face the challenges of operating our cafe amidst invasive construction and other practices that actively prevent us from our right to quiet enjoyment.
Coffee & Brunch
Our Fri-Sat-Sun brunch (8:30 am - 12:30 pm) is still kicking and while we’re taking it slow, we’re still thrilled with the response. We feature high quality ingredients -- good eggs, good cornmeal, tasty tomatillos, and amazing grains for our Farmer's Porridge. No fryers, no ultra processed foods. Just like our coffee, we want to keep it simple and do the best we can with the best ingredients. A few summer drinks are coming mid-July. Think bright, herbal, floral, and complementing, not detracting.
On coffee: From our primary roaster, Unity Sourcing & Roasting (https://unity.coffee/) , we’re drinking Jammy Pacamara, a competition-level Thermal Shock nano lot from Patio Bonito, Colombia at the moment. It's jammy. We also got some wild samples from our friends at Unity and look forward to finding just the right coffee(s) to bring on next. As always, we have our Cloudscape espresso and batch brew at the ready.
In early June, we hosted our first rotating guest micro-roaster, Tomodachi Coffee Roasters (https://tomodachi.coffee/) , and it was a hit. Sharing more about the coffees we know and love, local roasters, and the process behind this fruit is something we've always aspired to. To that end, we're hosting our second rotating guest micro-roaster in July, Lumen Coffee (https://lumencoffeela.com/) . We'll have the following coffees on batch brew and available for retail from July 1 until sold out:
Colombia Hacienda Venecia
Anaerobic natural, light roast
strawberry / grape / melon
Bolivia Finca El Mirador Gesha
Natural, light roast
Producer: Antonio Mamani
Altitude: 1650m
milk chocolate / fresh cranberry / green apple
The roaster will be on hand July 5 (time TBA) to share more about the coffees, roasting process, home brewing, and anything else folks want to know.
Upcoming Events
July 5: Meet the Roaster - Lumen Coffee
Lumen Coffee (https://lumencoffeela.com/) will be in town (time TBA) to share more about the coffees we've brought on for our monthly guest roaster, their process, and anything else they might want to share. Come on by to try some of their coffees and learn about their process!
July 13: Inaugural Analog Hour
An RSVP only (but free!) dedicated listening event -- no devices, no screens, just listening and connection. Details forthcoming.
July 19 - 31: Christmas in July
Featuring our favorite holiday music throughout the end of the month, including Aimee Mann, Kelly Finnigan, Vince Guaraldi, She & Him, and more. We'll have additional holiday surprises and drinks, and some stocking stuffer giveaways too.
July 25: SoreThumbs ✨Side Quest✨ Market
SoreThumbs Side Quest Markets are a more curated and intimate event. Birthed from the idea of an “only ceramics market” from co-founder Jessie, the spirit of the Side Quest is embracing a theme or specific kind of art and giving a spotlight for it! We hope you’ll join us for SoreThumbs first ✨Side Quest✨ Market (doodle booths, live wheel spinning, live watercolor, and more!) at Dedo Coffee on July 25th, 2026 from 9 AM to 1 PM.
August - Save the Date!
1-year anniversary festivities the first week of August!
Community & Creative Folk Praise
Thanks to Budding Erica (https://www.instagram.com/buddingerica/) we're a month into our weekly fresh flower installation and we can't thank her enough for bringing these illuminating pieces to our space every Saturday morning. The power of flowers!
We welcomed Collectng Dust (https://www.instagram.com/collectngdust.vintage) and several vendors for a Hi-Fi Listening Market on June 6 and we're incredibly thankful for the music and vinyl they shared with us and the neighborhood.
Megan Lloyd (https://www.instagram.com/meganxelysephoto/) graced us with her portrait photography in an Analog Portrait Pop-Up and we can't wait to have her back. In the meantime, drop her a line if you're looking for something special for you and/or your small business or special event. The portraits are so good...
