White Asparagus: each one tells the story of its experiences during one week at a hotel. Its interactions are affected by various personal and social issues. As the days pass, a darker complexity emerges among the asparagus, its employees, their wealthy associates, and the idyllic locale. Oh wait, that’s White Lotus. White Asparagus is much more intriguing and delicious. It is considered a delicacy—often called “white gold”—due to its labor-intensive cultivation, short seasonal availability (April to June), and unique, delicate flavor profile. Grown entirely underground to block sunlight, it stays pale and avoids turning green, resulting in a sweeter, less bitter, and more tender texture compared to its green counterpart. It’s on our seasonal menu right now and you must try it.

Here’s a look at just a few of the special items making a brief appearance on our menu right now.
1) the famous Jar Burger 2) our Liver and Bacon served with sweet onion and herb salad is for all those who think they don’t like liver 3) Braised Beef Ribs served over egg noodles (deeply satisfying comfort food) 4) Char Sui Pork Ribs -if you’ve tried our pork chop, then IYKYK. Seder service will be officiated by Rabbi Ellen Nemhauser at 5:00 p.m, followed by appetizers and the Passover Seder. It will be a wonderful, intimate evening, and we hope you’ll join us. Reservations can be made via OpenTable Experience (link in bio) or by calling the restaurant at 323.655.6566 with prepayment. Pricing is $312 per person, all-inclusive of menu, coffee, tea, Passover wines, gratuities and tax. The traditional Jar menu is not available.
Our Passover menu:
Appetizers: Auntie’s Chopped Liver, English Pea Puree with radish and feta and Smoked Salmon on potato pancake with crème fraîche and chives.
First Course: Suzanne’s Matzo Ball Soup with lemongrass broth followed by Chilled Asparagus with spring radish, hard-boiled egg and pickled-ramp vinaigrette.
Main Course: Guests choose from Jar’s signature Pot Roast with carrots, caramelized onions, prunes and fingerling potatoes or Alaskan Halibut sautéed with favas and celery root mashed potatoes.
Desserts: Almond Tangerine cake with fresh berries and whipped cream or decadent Chocolate Covered Matzah.
Vegetarian and vegan options available on request.
