The Dembiya taco :: jackfruit tibs w/ pickled cabbage. Named after the land of my maternal ancestors and my birthplace.

I saw Dembiya on a map for the first time a few years ago while reading A Wife’s Tale by Aida Edamariam (which I highly recommend). It feels good to lift up this place which has so much meaning for mi familia! 🌍

Introducing a new chapter in the Azla journey - our Ethiopian Fusion Taqueria at our home base in Leimert Park!

The idea for this exploration started on my first trip to Mexico City, when I stumbled upon the Etiopía metro stop and began a journey to uncover more about the rich history between Mexico and Ethiopia.

More on that later...for now enjoy a jackfruit tibs taco and horchata! እንብላ።
