As of today, we have officially sold the Common Loon, 234 Main St. This decision wasn’t easy—We truly did everything we could to keep the business open, but in the end, it just wasn’t possible to do so.

Although we hadn’t shared our selling plans or timeline to anyone, word somehow found its way around town before we had the chance to make the formal announcement. We jokingly call this “seepage” (think: the slow kind you don’t want in your pipes!)—and we’ll just say that it seems to have come from our town offices when property documents were requested.

We’re happy to share that the new owners have a long history of successfully running pizza restaurants and plan to reopen here as a local pizzeria. We hope you’ll give them a warm welcome.

Thank you for your support, friendship, and many good memories over the years.

With gratitude,Bill Connelly and Erin Kenneally

The commencement of the Common Loon was dreamt up as the end of an era was imminent, and the thought of losing such a local treasure sadden both Erin and I. We were quite motivated to keep the same type of ‘flavor’ in a restaurant that was so near and dear to us and so many others. Our family in the area would fill the place two or three times over and we all loved the place. Erin and I had been going to eat there since before Rose took over the helm. It saddens both of us that we will not be able to keep this establishment going for multiple reasons. We have made the decision that our family should and must come first. We regret not being able to employ such wonderful staff members we had over our short time here. We feel blessed to have had the support from so many in town and so many that transition through our little town. We hope to embellish and build on the camaraderie that has washed upon us. There are so many gracious people here.
The times they are a changin’ I’d better start swimming or I’ll sink like a stone. Thanks to Bob for opening my eyes and my mind once again. I started sinkin’ so I had to move on. The cost of going out to eat has skyrocketed because of many factors of which we had no control. Overall food prices in our short time here have gone up 10% a year that is 20% or more for us! The cost of dairy products is closer to 15% a year and heading northward at record speeds. I just could not ask someone to pay $30 a plate for breakfast. It is not the place I envisioned when we took on the dream to continue to have a nice little restaurant in town for folks to come in socialize about the weather, vacationing, past travels, town happenings and yes, even politics! And don’t criticize what you can’t understand For the times they are a changin’
We are not sure where/what, the next chapter in our book will bring us but we are quite sure it will not be reopening as restaurateurs. You see Erin’s a real artist and I am longin’ for the sky. She needs to paint more I need to get high! Thanks Harry. If you know of one who can keep this dream of a local restaurant alive let’s talk. Let’s not be strangers in the night, right Frank?

P.S. For all those who have previously inquired, yes, the tractor is STILL FOR SALE..

As promised, these are some of the "before" pics I have -- honestly, not a stalker! Just appreciate character and old architecture ... was planning to do a painting of his house at some point. Anyway, Bond, if you are seeing this, I hope you don't mind, it was a beautiful house and always made me smile. If there is anything I can do, please don't hesitate to ask.

Our villlage center lost a treasure last night — I have wanted to do a painting of this house for years (c. 1850) and thus have dozens of photos of it before this devastation (I’m not a stalker!) I was there tonight. My heart breaks for Bond and the guy that was living there, I’m just glad no one was hurt and no animals were lost either. I’ll post before pictures tomorrow; this is just so sad.
