Today is July 24.
I want to thank everyone who has helped in one way or another. Those who donated in monetary way thru GoFundMe or direct mail or time (post/share). Believe me, every time I am updated, I my eyes get flowing with tears and my heart feels loved back.
I’m so sorry for this delayed,so stressed out. Lack of sleep and everything else. In shock as well. Disappointed too.
July 13th, Friday the 13th, we went in front of a judge. To be honest, felt almost gained upon. We went there thinking, we can speak to the judge and perhaps tell our side of our story. Nope. Had translator over the speaker for Ken. The judge encouraged both parties to agree to something or go to a hearing. We spoke with the other lawyer. They tried to make it sound like a deal. That they would give Wasabi until the end of July to come up with half ( $15,000). Then we were told that IF we go to a trial, it would be right there and then. No representation, nothing. AND if we agree to a trial, and loose, the sheriff would come the very next week and kick us out of our business. So we had no choice but to agree to try to come up with $15,000 or evacuate by July 31. And if we end up evacuating, we are still liable for that $15,000 plus the rent for each month they can’t find new tenants.
Our GoFundMe account has had a very slow start. And now it’s kind of coming in, little by little. We passed the $1,000 mark as of this morning. Lots of people have posted for us. But with everything else going on in the world and even in Dane County. Everyone is suffering. I understand even giving $20 is hard.
For those who don’t know Wasabi very well. Ginza was the very first Hibachi table Japanese Restaurant in Madison. But it was Wasabi that brought sushi to Madison community, UW Madison community as well as MATC, almost 25 years ago. I been part of it for like half of those years. My husband worked too hard to have his business thrown out like it never mattered.
Will not give up. Will not be defeated.
