A Seat at the Table: We Save Lives

Y'all, this one stuck with me. Sitting down with Aging Matters for this series, I learned something that honestly changed how I think about what "volunteering" even means. Their folks aren't just dropping off a meal and heading out. They're checking in. They're noticing when something's off. They're the difference between an elderly neighbor getting help in time, or not.

That's not a program. That's community looking out for its own.

This is what the "A Seat at the Table" series is all about, pulling back the curtain on the nonprofits doing real work right here in Brevard County, the kind of work that doesn't always get the spotlight it deserves. Aging Matters earned this seat, no question.

A long post for a what turned out to be an impactful weekend! From celebrating another incredible night at Great Tastes of Suntree to being part of an evening dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence, this weekend was a reminder of how much our community can accomplish when we come together.

🏆 Two awards. Two years in a row.

We’re incredibly grateful to bring home both the People’s Choice Award and Best Presentation Award at the Rotary Club of Suntree’s Great Tastes of Suntree for the second consecutive year! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, enjoyed the food, and showed Catered Dish so much love. A huge thank you to the friends who jumped in to help make the evening a success. I couldn’t have done it without you!

🧡🍑 Good food. Meaningful causes. Stronger communities.

I was also honored to attend Bourbon, Boots & Bags, supporting the important work of Serene Harbor and its mission to help survivors and families impacted by domestic violence right here in Brevard County. It’s always meaningful to see local organizations, businesses, and community members come together for something bigger than themselves.

These two events may have looked a little different, but they share something important: the power of community.
