We come from a Pizza background. Grandparents (my Yia Yia and Papou) came from Greece. Didn’t have much but with hard work and the ability to save money they opened up their pizza shops in Philly, started with a luncheonette called “Pauline n Eddie’s”, sold it and opened their first pizza shop called “Jomana Pizza” which sat right next to Mastbaum High School in the 70’s.
In the early 80’s and as I child I watched them open up the original “In & Out Pizza” on Rockland and Broad St. in North Philly. A couple years later I’d watch them open another with my Uncle Nick on Ogontz Ave.
Today, 40+ years later and my grandparents influence in Philly is still running solid. In & Out Pizza, is now owned by my 1st cousin and still serving the community on Broad St. and Ogontz Ave. (although a sold location). Also one in Warminster, PA. on Street rd.
This is what birthed Straight Outta Philly. My grandparents and the knowledge they passed down to my father, then to me.
I wouldn’t call this my dream, but I certainly have a passion for this that is DNA deep! This isn’t even half of our story, but it’s a story that came from 2 Greeks that came to America with THEIR dream to provide for their community and their family…. and I plan on continuing my families legacy!
In honor of my Yia Yia, who gained her wings 15 years ago, today. I hope I make you proud 🥹
