A beautiful day to take a walk at the Cossatot.

Good morning. ☕ Even after all these years, the view from the top of Rich Mountain is still the best seat in the house.

Happy Friday!!!

We took a drive up to Queen Wilhelmina today, and let me tell you, we are so incredibly blessed to have this in our backyard.
Sometimes you just need to get above the noise, and Rich Mountain is the best place for it. Up there the air just feels different. I know the history of the "Castle in the Clouds" has seen a lot of changes over the years, but standing there today, it still feels as timeless as ever.
I’m sharing a few shots I grabbed while I was up there. As you can see, the clouds did not disappoint! There’s nothing quite like watching them roll across the ridges of the Ouachitas. It’s one of those views that reminds you to just stop and breathe for a second.
We really do live in a beautiful part of the world. Hope these views bring a little peace to your feed today!

Spring in Polk County doesn’t just show up all at once, it sort of eases in.
One day everything still looks like winter, and then the next, you start noticing just a little green coming back in the hills. It’s not much at first, just enough to catch your eye when you are driving through.
Then the redbuds and dogwoods start popping up along the roads and in the woods. Suddenly there’s a splash of pink or white that wasn’t there before.
The creeks usually run a little higher this time of year, and everything just feels more alive again. You hear more birds, the air’s a little different, and the woods don’t feel so quiet.
Around Mena, it shows up in the small stuff too. Trees start filling back in, yards need mowing again, and people start spending more time outside. After a long winter, it’s just nice to have those longer days back.
The weather can go back and forth—warm one day, cool the next, maybe some rain rolling in, but that’s just part of spring around here.
And before you know it, everything’s green again.

Honestly, it’s a good reminder this time of year just how lucky we are to live here. This is such a beautiful place, and Spring has a way of bringing that back into focus.

I think that’s why it’s always been my favorite time of year.

What about y’all? What’s your favorite season in the Ouachitas? 🌿
