Today is our final day at SMASHED.

This shop in Meraux was never about chasing quick wins. It was about learning-- how to run a real burger operation, the right way.

We didn’t open with a manual.
We just had a goal: make ridiculously good burgers and figure out the rest as we went.

And we did learn, fast and in public.

Was it perfect? Definitely not.
We had growing pains.
And yeah, you probably noticed the shop was quiet.
We hoped to keep our Meraux location open. But with the foot traffic we had, that just wasn’t realistic. It wasn’t sustainable.

SMASHED was the first test.
Eighty Twenty is the beta.

Our next chapter, opening soon at 2701 Airline Drive in Metairie.
Built with the right tools, systems, and standards from day one.

To everyone who supported us, came through, gave us feedback, or just rooted for us: a sincere thank you.
You helped shape what’s coming next for us.

We’re open until 9pm tonight.

We want to share an important update.

SMASHED will be closing after service on Saturday, January 31.

From day one, this shop was an experiment.
We opened fast, with more ambition than systems. No playbook. No manual. No real understanding yet of what it actually takes to run a great burger operation at scale.

And you felt that with us.

We stumbled out of the gate in real ways.
We sold out of buns and beef because we couldn’t afford to overstock.
We were slow.
We served cold buns early on because we were buying frozen instead of fresh, we didn’t yet have the right distributor.
We were hand-rolling and weighing meat instead of using specialized equipment.
We ran a budget griddle that simply couldn’t keep up.

None of that was intentional.
All of it was learning.

This shop is where we learned everything. How to prep correctly, how to spec equipment, how to build systems, how to staff, how to manage flow, and how unforgiving ex*****on really is. This was the Alpha.

Along the way, we were selected as one of eight new & emerging QSR brands at the Fast Casual Executive Summit in Austin, and we were recently honored to be named New Business of the Year by the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce.
Those moments mattered— but what mattered most was the education.

As the business evolved, it became clear that the next phase needed a different environment— one that gives this concept a fair test with the right tools, systems, and standards in place from day one.

So this isn’t stepping away.
It’s moving forward — deliberately.

We’re taking everything we learned here and applying it to a new concept, Eighty Twenty, opening soon in Metairie. Think of it as the next iteration. The first real Beta, built with intention instead of improvisation.

As for The Parish: This isn’t necessarily goodbye forever. This chapter is closing, but the respect and appreciation remain.

Thank you to everyone who supported us and stuck with us while we figured it out in real time. You helped build what comes next.
