Another Saturday doing something that makes me really happy!

I’ve been on this local train for a long time, and I don’t plan on getting off anytime soon! Supporting local farms, small businesses, and the people who make our communities so special is something I genuinely love.

There’s something really wonderful about spending a Saturday in my hometown of Metuchen, wandering through the farmers market, popping into local shops, catching up with familiar faces, and meeting new ones. It never gets old!

Looking forward to soaking up these last few Saturdays at the Metuchen Farmers Market. If you see me, say hi! Let’s talk veggies!

A few fun things coming up:

šŸŽƒ October 31: I’ll be strolling around the farmers market and have two spots available for a little shopping date with Chef Lauren! We can walk the market together, talk seasonal produce, what to look for, and what to do with it once you get home. Message me if you’d like to grab a spot!

🌱 November 13: The Duke Farms culinary and programs team and I are hosting a special farm-to-fork dinner celebrating seasonal food, local growers, and the connection between food and land. Tickets are still available, and I’d love to see some familiar faces there!

šŸ„ November 14: I’ll be posted up with Zell’s Farm at the market, cooking mushrooms with the growers themselves! Really excited for this one, so come hang out!

Lots more to share from today’s adventures thanks to Enegvisuals, but for now, just feeling grateful for good food, good people, and this wonderful little community I get to be part of.

Fresh baby ginger! šŸ«ššŸ«¶šŸ½šŸ«™šŸÆšŸ§Š

One of my favorite seasonal finds at the Metuchen Farmers Market!

I grabbed two beautiful bunches on Saturday and finally got around to something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. Quick-pickled ginger! I kept it simple with white vinegar, water, salt, and a little honey, using a cold brine to keep that ginger nice and crisp.

I blended the rest with a little water and froze it into cubes to have on hand for teas, smoothies, sauces, and cooking. Even made myself a fresh ginger shot this morning!

Baby ginger has such a short season here in New Jersey, and I’m all about making the most of what’s in season. Hoping to grab a little more this weekend!

A little kitchen project that brought me a whole lot of joy. šŸ§…

International Chefs Day!

Almost three decades in the culinary world, and I still have so much love and appreciation for this profession and all the places it’s taken me.

The journey has been filled with incredible people, lifelong friendships, plenty of lessons, and experiences I wouldn’t trade for anything. Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate that being a chef is about so much more than what’s on the plate. It’s about bringing people together, sharing stories, celebrating cultures, and creating experiences that leave a lasting impression.

Some of the greatest rewards these days are having the opportunity to share what I’ve learned with the next generation of culinary professionals and using my work to support local agriculture and the farmers and growers who make what we do possible. It’s pretty amazing how this journey continues to evolve.

Cheers to my fellow chefs and everyone behind the scenes who brings their passion, creativity, and a whole lot of heart to this industry. Keep learning, keep creating, and never lose the love for what you do!

Stay Fabulous!
…and don’t forget those veggies! šŸ–¤
