Starting January 8 and every Wednesday in the winter thereafter, Ella the Sommelier will be hosting Wine Wednesdays from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Blue Bar at Jessica's at Swift House Inn. She will be introducing you to her favorite wines and offering deep discounts on bottles from our cellar. It will be chill, fun, and you might learn a thing or two about wine!

Ella joined the Jessica’s team in 2024. She brings a fresh perspective about local wines and flavors, which enhances the experiences of Jessica’s diners. She is originally from San Diego, California, but has lived on the east coast for five years, four of which were spent working in the wine industry. Her first grape harvest was at Wild Arc Farm in Hudson Valley, New York. her favorite kind of wine is Champagne. When she’s not sipping on something dry and bubbly, she’s got her nose buried in a book. She has read 15 books in 2024 and plans to read even more the following year. Ella resides in Burlington, Vermont, but the commute to Jessica’s is worth it!

Jessica’s at Swift House Inn, Middlebury’s premiere fine dining restaurant, is looking for a sommelier to lead their award-winning wine list in its curation and service on the floor. Jessica’s is proud to offer over 400 selections from all around the world, with heavy representation from California, Spain, and France. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of wine and service experience, ideally with sales or management background; certifications through WSET, CMS or any other established educating body is a plus. Candidates should show a passion for wine, work well with others, and be consistently looking to improve the wine program. Pay structure: Hourly, tip share and commission on wine sales. Relax at a Premier Inn

Welcome to the Swift House Inn, Middlebury, Vermont’s only full-service Country Inn! The Inn’s three historic buildings are surrounded by four acres of lawns and gardens and is just a short walk from the village center. The eco-friendly inn’s atmosphere is warm and casual, and the service is friendly. Each of the 20 rooms is uniquely appointed with contemporary styles and offers modern amenities, yet respects the building’s history. All rooms have private baths, satellite TV, phones, and individual heat and air conditioning. Many include jetted tubs, wood or gas fireplaces, and sitting areas. We serve a complimentary full breakfast each morning.

Enjoy dinner in Jessica’s Restaurant, a local favorite which has received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for more than 10 years. Warm yourself by sitting near the fireplace or enjoy our deck during the summer. Our cozy bar is perfect for a more intimate setting.

Swift House Inn’s location in the Champlain Valley, at the foot of the Green Mountains, is a great place to hike, fly fish in numerous streams, cross-country or downhill ski, or bike our rolling hills on country roads with little traffic.

Middlebury is a quintessential picturesque west-central Vermont town, home to Middlebury College, which provides many cultural and athletic events. The center of town contains the Otter Creek waterfall, fun shopping, and the Town Hall Theater. Visit Otter Creek Brewery, Lincoln Peak Winery, Woodchuck Hard Cider, the Henry Sheldon Museum, or the University of Vermont’s Morgan Horse Farm.
