Another victory for animals is making headlines.

France has officially ended mink fur farming, bringing an end to an industry that has long faced criticism for animal cruelty. For years, thousands of minks spent their lives inside small wire cages before being killed for their fur. Animal welfare groups have fought to end this practice for decades. Now that fight has reached an important milestone.

This decision is about more than one country. It shows that governments are beginning to recognize that fashion should never come at the cost of an animal's life. As more nations move away from fur farming, the future of this industry continues to shrink.

Minks are curious, intelligent animals. In the wild, they swim, hunt, and explore large areas every day. Life on a fur farm could not be more different. Keeping wild animals in tiny cages for their fur has become harder and harder to justify.

Every law like this sends a powerful message. Compassion matters. Progress is possible. Change happens when people refuse to stay silent.

It's official: Big cats, bears and primates will no longer be used in traveling acts like circuses and fairs in Illinois!

Illinois has taken a major step forward for animal welfare with Governor Pritzker signing HB 4255 into law. Wild animals used in these shows endure extreme confinement, cruel training methods, chronic stress and inadequate care, all to perform unnatural tricks. With his signature, Illinois is once again leading the way in protecting animals and public safety.

This new law builds on Illinois’ first-in-the-nation ban on elephants in traveling acts and reflects what we know to be true: wild animals do not belong in entertainment.
